Hard to know in US courts how this will play out. The FTX debacle is a very big case overall.

Hmm - I wonder if all the politicians who accepted donations from FTX will also be charged with complicitness in fraud?

Desperate attempt for people to recoup their losses.

I’m going to sue Haas for me not being able to buy a can of Rich Energy in the shops

I think it’s fair play to go after individuals, who took unrealistically massive amounts of money to shill for FTX - but their sports sponsorships were simply your standard sports sponsorships, money in exchange for logos and some free tickets. That said, there’s a lot of wealthy people who lost serious amount of cash in FTX, so there’s going to be a decade or more of lawsuits aimed at anyone who ever dealt with them.

Their ‘celebrity marketing’ budget was $1bn over time.
A good video explaining their finances, with totally bonkers numbers.

And yes, a whole load of politicians. SBF himself was the second-biggest donor (behind Soros) to the Democrats in 2022, and another IFX executive was a large Republican donor in the same year.

I would not bet against the lawyers involved in cases like this, I was amazed to read that as much as 70% of the Madoff losses have been recovered,

Wow! That is amazing, if true... A pyramid held upside down is a funnel though.

FTX were also donating to Republicans but they hid those donations because it didn't fit with the image SBF wanted to portray.

It's complete nonsense because there would only be wrongdoing if Merc F1 knew FTX were doing illegal things, which they didn't.

No - the principle of client priviledge applies.
