I'm about to buy my first property and wondered if there was a property equivalent of Pistonheads?

I'd quite like to see what other people have done with say an empty house and how they've made it their home.

Always loved property and different houses, so it would be interesting to read similar stories to those I read on here about EuroHoon or buying their first Ferrari etc.

Any recommendations much appreciated :)

I used to subscribe to Homebuilding and Renovating Magazine. You will find a lot of useful information in there with anecdotal stuff about buying, building and renovating property.

Check out the magazine website Here

If it's colour co-ordination, storage ideas and soft furnishing your after. You'd better have a look at some of the mags your girlfriends more likely to read.

None that I know of. Just imagine it though. Instead of people ranting about MLMs, or saying that *** drivers are winkers or my TVR has more HP/breaks down more than yours, it would be yuppies telling porkies about how much their riverside flat has gone up in value, or how they were let down by such and such a cowboy builder. Think the interweb is already clogged up enough, don't you?

Yeah, I agree that it would be a load of t*ssers on that kind of forum. But then you can get car forums full of t*ssers. Just thought there 'might' be a suitable one out there.

Would be nice least it would narrow down my searches of the last time I posted on some topic every time a question about joint ownership or SDLT comes up...

Stick a post in the business section mate, I always get a massive response on anything to do with property.

your best bet is to work out finance. Know your budget and what you can and cannot buy with regard to value, structure, lease etc. Then go and register with every estate agent in the area you want to buy.

Ask them all their opinion on the market and what you should look for. Once you have done a few you will know what you fancy.

Try not to sound like a big headed or no-one will keep you updated... Trust me I used to deal with investors all the time as an estate agent. If they are any good, they will want to forge a relationship with you in case you turn into the next Donald Trump.

Look at loads, don't be afraid to be cheeky on offers. If the Estate Agent trusts you, he will pass you lots of leads.

Thats about it really... feel free to drop me an email

Good luck
