And by the looks of it the contestants are just as irritating as the original series. Bullst like "we've only known each other a few days but we're already a family" is a line that could well be plucked from the Noel Edmonds days.....

It had long run its course on C4 before it was dropped. The reboot is terrible. Stephen Mulherrn is quite good on other programmes, but not here.

Yes, it's obvious Mulhern does
not appreciate the underlying mystical
elements within the byzantium structure of the
format, the constant struggle between light and dark,
even life and death itself, the desire to win above all else and the tactical skill
required to pick a random number from 1-22 puts
this above any other TV game show,

Mulhern thinks it's just a stupid guessing game.

I actually quite like the format, in the most basic form of the game, being that you'll be tempted with offers depending on what numbers you knock out, it's quite interesting seeing that play out.

But all the ridiculous fluffy bullst "what do you feel about your box?" "I brought my lucky crystals, can we all hold hands for this one?" etc etc etc drives me mad. I can't quite seem not to watch it at the moment though, being a horrible bd I've enjoyed seeing people do badly haha.

Fifteen years ago, Me and Mrs WR travelled 200 miles to the "dream factory" (a ramshackle building on an industrial estate in Bristol) to be in the audience and see Mr pointy winkle picker shoes Edmonds.

Had a great time, two episodes in the morning and one in the afternoon....the episodes were screened several months later.

Never saw The dealer though. hehe

(Also was once in the audience for The Krypton Factor with Gordon Burns at Granada studios around 1982)

I read a story the other day how one of the new contestants went home with a fiver.
He is seriously ill, & a go fund me type appeal has raised £20K+ for him.
Good luck for the future.

Yes, watched that one, only time I wanted someone to do well, shame how it worked for him, but the GoFundMe no doubt a better result than a lot of the amounts he could have walked away with.

Where do they get the contestants from? Do they do returns?

Intro - 22 boxes chosen at random….

Contestant the other day - I’m avoiding boxes x,y,z as they are the squad numbers of my favourite Man Utd players.
How the hell does that work? The stars magically align to ensure that the boxes are numbered and distributed according to footballers squad numbers? tt. Think he won a fiver or something.

Give it back you retard and lick your windows clean instead.

I agree the nonsense they come out with is just astounding.

Problem is the actual game could be played out in about 5 mins if you just rattled through the boxes and offers. So sadly no tv show to be had there.

Saw the last 10 mins of today's, first time since I used to watch it with Edmunds.
I'd have taken the £8500

Can’t be many Gameshows where a contestant has come away with more than the top prize... by losing.

I have watched parts of it a couple of times now. He does a good job with the most ridiculous game show ever conceived. I actually had to check I was getting it a couple of times with my wife .It has absolutely no skill whatsoever.

I suppose looking after the contestants for a week & then dragging their games out over about three weeks pays dividends.
