high mileage octavia

Looking at a 5/6k ish Skoda Octavia estate around the 2014 mark.
mileage on these are 125-175k.
super cheap tax. massive boot . insurance isn't bad . good mpg.
feel like i'm missing something
anything to watch out for?
all reviews say they are the best for the money car in that criteria

What engine are you looking at?
My 2012 Octavia Scout is on 130k (2.0 CRDi diesel). We tow a horse box with it from time to time as well (when the Disco is out of action....)
No issues (which have been the fault of the car) with the engine. My EGR is blanked and mapped out though (and it is remapped from 150bhp to 200bhp by Celtic Tuning).
If it is 4x4 model (Scout) then check the 4x4 is working. Otherwise, you could be looking at a new Haldex pump.
Our drivers seat lowering/raising mechanism gave up a few months ago, which I have tried to fix but haven't managed to yet, so looking for an identical seat from a breakers.
Other than that, it is a fabulous, reliable motor. Getting an average of 50mpg on a mix of driving.

sounds good. have changed mine many times over the last few weeks and these appear over and over

Horrible engines prone to expensive injector failure if you mean dieselsounds good. have changed mine many times over the last few weeks and these appear over and over
I'd go petrol if i had the choice, great practical cars, cheap trim but massive space and drive nicely
My 2009 vRS with the 2.0 CR Diesel is on about 150k miles. I've just had the rear shocks replaced, and I had a reoccurring brake issue that took a while to diagnose and turned out to be a brake line degrading and crud in the fluid stopping it from releasing properly. The seats are starting to feel a bit less supportive than they, were but otherwise it's been very reliable.

for a camping trip / run around car it seems ok.either this or
golf estate

Mechanically they're all pretty similar, so I'd expect the reliability to be similar. The Octavia Hatchback has a boot nearly as big as the Golf as the Leon estates though.
One thing I forgot to mention, leaky door seals can be quite common on Mk2 Octavia's, I sometimes get a bit (as in a drop every minute or so) coming in when driving on the motorway in heavy rain.
