Hi All,

Looking at an M5 purchase and been tracking 15-20 cars. Wow they are dropping the prices drastically so holding off a while longer.

Whats everyone's view on Donington Grey as there seem to be quite a few, well spec'd ones at good prices (well compared to 2 months ago) that are not selling. Anyone have views on the colour, more difficult to resell ?

It looks a bit dull in photographs, sometimes looking almost silver with a yellowish hue to it but maybe its the lighting ?

Cheers

Always been curious on this.

My previous was Space Grey which was a fab colour, keen to know how this one is in person too.

All subjective but I think it is a great colour. Really accentuates the creases and bulges on an M5.

My default choice would be Marina Bay Blue as that really pops, but every time I see a Donington grey car I'm taken by it. Nice that both these colours are not generally applied to other BMWs as well so not as common on the road.

Both my X5M and M5comp were factory ordered in Donnington.
It’s an absolutely stunning colour, particularly when properly detailed, with huge depth.
Doesn’t photograph particularly well though and definitely need to see it in the flesh to pick up the tones. Sometimes looks brownish tinge in pics, but never see this in person.

Thanks for replies. Will definitely keep them on the list then and go see one in the flesh.

My M5C was Donington. It looked brilliant. Wouldn't hesitate to get another one in this colour.

Very similar to JLRs Silicon Silver, definitely more than a hint of gold and pewter.

Donington is a lovely color, it was between that and Marina Bay Blue when I was looking for my M5.

I think the issue is that although we in the know realise it's an M-specific colour, it's close to some of the grey's you'd get on the non-M cars.
With the M5 being a bit more toned down in comparison to an M2/3/4 I reckon a lot of buyers are after something more unusual to make it stand out.

Of course there will always be buyers for black, grey and white cars - but the other colours seem to be priced a little higher than those which would back up the above.

My X3M was in donington, and must admit it was a bit marmite. In certain lighting it appeared "champagne", would much have preferred a clear silver instead.

My F85 X5M is in donnington grey with red interior. It’s the perfect color combo. Plus, it hides the dirt well.

Looks fantastic to me. Shame the F32 4 Series was never made in this colour as that's what I'm currently looking to buy and would definitely go for that.
