Does anyone know please if the OEM porsche roof transport system (the two bars) will take the standard Thule Ski fittings (that slides into the bars)?

I already have the Thule ski system and over the years have moved it across to various vehicles / on top of trailers using a variety of Thule bars (usually the aero ones) but this is the first time I have considered taking the Pork skiing and am hoping I only need to buy the roof transport system if the Thule ski racks fit? I imagine the Porsche roof transport system is in fact a Thule item anyway.

Do all 991s have the brackets built into the roof channels or was it an option when the car was new and I need to also check into that?

Thanks in advance.

The ski rack fits. However, you may need different screws to attach the rack to the bars depending on what screws came with your ski rack. Can buy the screws online though.

The thule rack had some square / rectangular headed bolts which from memory slid along the channel of the bars and then did up from the top with wing nuts

That's right. However, there are different size heads and shapes for the bolts depending on the bars.

Well my dealer advised me on the phone that my car was not showing on OPC system as having the roof fixings .. which apparently have to be specced at factory

But I have 4 little rubber strips in roof on the corners that come off and there are metal brackets underneath.

so I think I have them??

You do. I had the same issue and I believe dealers think the brackets mean the roof bars themselves, which are eternally out of stock...

Yep - thanks I agree. Physically took it to OPC today and they confirmed I have them. Bars ordered from Germany (on a 7 - 10 day delivery apparently) just in time for my ski trip early December (fingers crossed for both the bars themselves turning up and indeed more snow low down (Corchevel).

Cor am going around in circles on this one.

My Porsche bars land tomorrow and I am leaving Thursday night on the boat to France and nobody can clarify which fixings I need - my Thule 726 is actually at my French place so I need to take the right T Track adapter bolts with me before I leave!!

Anyone know the size of them? There are multiple options available on the web at a place called roofracks.co.uk

I assume it is the size of the head to fit the track on the Porsche bars and then the length of the bolt itself to pick up the Thule Ski system.

I'm minded to actually go to the Tunbridge Wells offices of the roofracks.co.uk place where they have multiple options in stock once I have fitted my bars tomorrow but as I don't have my 726 ski system in the country I can't take that with me and they don;t have one in stock as apparently it is discontinued.. FFS!!!

Yep

I put a Thule box on my bars and bike racks and canoe racks and ski snowboard racks. All fit with these bars

Have you got the 726 ski / snowboard system? Any chance of measuring the head width of one of the t-track bolts please and also the length of it?

Don't suppose you are in Hampshire??

legend.

I think my older system is a threaded bolt with a plastic wing nut type thing on the top that drops down through my ski rack fittings and then there is a profiled little rectangular 'nut' that picks it up from the bottom which slides along inside the track of the roof bar.

the newer systems are a T-Track nut that has a square head that slots along the track of the roof bar and then there is some sort of nut / fixing that goes on the top.

Here’s some photos of my bike rack with the square t bolt, the other side is just a plastic wedge that slides on top of the bar.

My ski rack is in Switzerland
My roof box has a u shape clamp that just goes under the bar, as does my canoe rack.

I think you’ll be fine
Take a hacksaw if you need to trim the t bolt down !!!
