Selling e92 m3 through and owners forum??

Just weighing up if I want to sell mine. It will have to be private as BMW offered a ridiculously low part ex value.

Wondering if the best way of avoiding time wasters (especially with this sort of car / value) will be try selling through an owners website but not sure which is the most popular in the UK?

Agree with the above - M3 Cutters will work well although there are the usual eijits on there that have to comment on cars pricing etc...

Ebay is a great way to get coverage. £20 for a 30 day classified is a good deal.

Car & Classic is free to list. Well worth doing IMO - sold both my Japanese import E39s on there without issue

Pistonheads will work better than AT IMO but I usually leave them as a last resort

I don't think a high percentage of prospective buyers join forums to look at cars for sale, especially if they're first time buyers of that model.

Like all car forums (fora?) M3 Cutters also has more than its share of experts, who - as mentioned above - will nitpick on any aspect like price, spec, mods, condition, history etc. I had that with mine (and a former owner came on to outline the paint work repairs he'd had done on the car!).

Personally I'd stick it on Ebay, use messaging rather than your phone number, and then post a link to the ad on the forum.

Facebook model specific owners groups are typically a lot busier than forums now, you will probably even find buy/sell groups specific to the E92 M3. I'm in a couple of M4 owners groups and people do advertise cars for sale regularly and seem to get interest

I’d agree that Facebook groups seem more popular than forums these days, but M3cutters is quite a popular one. I do see people who have previously been M3 owners going there to look for another.

Like others have said, owners forums can be quite picky on spec and preventative maintenance. With these cars it seems everyone wants rod bearings and actuators done, which is the best part of £2k.

I was normally an ebay person - classified listing but their search alogrithm seems pretty crap when I was looking.

Went to list on AT to see how much it was and they offered a 24hr dealer auction for free with no obligation. Can didn't sell for reserve so they offered me a 50% discount on listing.

From memory it was £23 for 3 weeks but I went the full fat 'list until sold' for £42. Had lots of interest but actually sold to a chap on here from my pistonheads ad - the one and only person who contacted me from PH and a lovely guy, smooth deal.
