Son's Jump Bike Insurance
Discussion
We bought my son an NS Bikes dirt jump bike, second hand this year. Paid £200 for it and spent about £300 over the months since. Recently two of his friends had theirs stolen while at Greno Woods in Sheffield but my son luckily got away. Hence us wanting to insure it when out and about. Who are people using as specialist insurers, or are they simply adding it to their home insurance as a listed item?
Thanks.....
Thanks.....
Your home insurance will be cheapest for something of that value, in fact it might already be covered, check your policy, most will cover a bike of £500 as standard. Otherwise a specialist might be £50-100 a year. Most have an excess of 10% or more. Most people get specialist insurance to cover circumstances that home insurance might not cover, very high value bikes, or if perhaps they are renting, shared housing etc. and don't want to otherwise bother with contents insurance.

I'm not sure that anyone will cover theft of the bike whilst it's in use.
Pretty much all of the specialist cycle insurers will cover robbery/theft while the bike is in use (source: I work for one and have a pretty detailed knowledge of all the competitors). Home insurance will likely too, if the bike is covered for anything else.Edited by Gareth79 on Saturday 11th November 19:57
