One other thing I'll be doing come New Year is a cooling system overhaul

What water pump/stats/hoses do folk usually use/recommend?

I've already got lashings of Comma G48 in the garage, so sorted for coolant etc

I'm out of touch with dervs being an E39 petrol driver for so many years biggrin

I only fit genuine BMW water pumps, thermostats and hoses. Given how long they last and how many times I’ve seen non gen. alternatives fail-it’s worth the extra cost.

I've never had any issues with any water pump/stat I've used; but they've always been Walher (OEM) and Behr (also OEM IIRC) for the E39s; but no idea who makes them for the newer cars etc

I've not enquired re OEM prices yet but I know they won't be cheap!

^^^ this, our local independent will only fit genuine on those items if they are supplying the parts. They got sick of even the better non gen stuff failing.

Febi was always my go to - they were inariably genuine parts with the logos and part numbers ground off. One was an intake boot for an E46 and whilst the part number had been removed, the BMW logo hadn't. biglaugh

I fitted countless Circoli pumps and only had one fail after two or three years.

Yeah; had the same with Febi Bilstein on E39s

But not sure if they're one of the OE makers for the F31; that's ideally what I'm looking for

I have emailed Cotswolds BMW for a quote; will see what they come back with

FYI I've gone all Febi Bilstein for the F31

Stat, pumop, stat housing and hoses via Autodoc

£135 all in delivered! Cotswolds wanted £300 delivered...

Good effort!

As I say, they were always my go-to and still are.

I did a stat on a mate's old 318d this week (M47) and the febi stat was clearly BMW with the logo filed off.

Cheers for that; I'm happy with FB stuff, never had any issues with their stuff. It was always their gaskets/intake boots and hoses I used on my E39s etc and used their suspension arms on other E39s too

At the end of the day it's a mechanical pump on the N47; so not a lot to go wrong really

Already got 2 unopened bottles of Comma G48 in the garage; so that's the cooling system refresh sorted too smile Jan is gonna be a busy month for the car haha biggrin

It's booked in with my pal for Tues 09th; so they'll have it for the rest of the week and get the jobs done when they can. It'll be like a new car thumbup

Haha biggrin

Unfortunately off the drink currently with the horse tablets I'm taking...

Comma G48 isn't the best dram; it's too young laugh
