Hi

I’m thinking of moving from my 2019 Audi ttrs to a Yaris Gr would appreciate some thoughts if this would be a good move to make or am I better off sticking with the TT?

Thanks

I’d recommend a 1998 Nissan Micra, a better car overall.

If you can stretch your budget to a 1999 version you get the upgraded stereo. Worth it in my opinion.

Only a test drive will answer that question for you.

People might be able to help if they understand what would be your main thought process for the switch?

I quite like the look of the Yaris but the GR arches are just a bit too much.

It’s a bit chavvy overall. The TTRS is a classier car.

Plus I’d imagine the TTRS is a good couple of levels up on quality vs a Yaris.

Unless you’re buying it to run down for ABC roads on a moderate commute, I wouldn’t have one over a TTRS.

No it isn’t.

I agree with Georgey. No-one has bought a Yaris GR to impress anyone. Perhaps the opposite, you'd spend all your time explaining that it isn't a normal Yaris.

Yaris seems like it would be much less practical and refined, and I hear they are not much fun for just pottering around (although a TT is hardly the last word in excitement).

I recently watched a Grand Tour episode where Clarkson was driving the equivalent TTRS. He reckoned it was a brilliant car.
IMO, I'd guess your TTRS will be a generally better car most of the time, although not as fun.

I'd say keep the TTRS, but if you've got the itch...

good luck trying to sell your 2019 ttrs. you'll be getting £25-28k from a non-private sale.
why have they dropped so much recently?

my car i'm looking to sell is worth (or selling) for at least £7k more than what's being offered at best by the WBAC sites

Ignoring the bed wetters talking about price, what can the Yaris do that the TTRS can’t?

I'd try and get a new model 2024 GRY allocation.

Good question! I'd keep the TTRS unless you particularly want a Yaris.

Really?

I suppose if you watch The Fast and the Furious and think that those cars would be the height of dignity for friends and relatives to arrive at your grans funeral then no, the Yaris GR is a solid respectable looking car like the Audi TTRS.

I’m all for hotted up cars but the Yaris went beyond normal hot and straight to Fast and Furious absurdity.
The front is kinda acceptable but those rear arches are just utterly st to put it bluntly.

Go look at say the Escort vs Escort Cosworth to see how wider arches on a 3dr hatchback should be done!

I'd be willing to bet good money that there are far more chav's driving ttrs' than the Yaris.

VAG performance stuff is several times chavvier than Japanese performance metal and has been for years now. The only marque higher up the chav pole is Ford ST/RS clobber

I’d say BMW and Audi right at the very top
