I've gone and bought a Golf GTI mk5
Discussion
In a moment of extreme rashness (for me) with almost no procrastination; I've gone and traded in my lovely, comfortable, sorted, 59 plate E Class Coupe for a red 09 Golf GTi.
For sale at Taylor Made Classics all I really had was a few instagram photos (I didn't even use Instagram!) and a relatively short write up. I've had my eye on a mk5 for a while now and almost bid on the recent edition 30 on pistonheads, but the rust put me off. I was assured this had zero rust so off I went 2hrs down the M1 today and after a test drive and a quick haggle a deal was done. And yes, it had no rust....
Anyway, only a few photos that I took at the fuel stop. More tomorrow......

Some more pics, I don't imagine it will stay this clean for long....

Having now driven it home and to work and back down some twisty B roads it's good to be back in a car with some steering feel and that actually handles after the E class coupe.
I'm still getting used to driving a petrol though. I'm used to not having to rev an engine and use the massive wedge of torque, at first it felt a bit slow!
Anyway, a few things that I'll need to address:
1) Seat bolster. The drivers bolster is in a bit of a state, is it worth going to a trimmer to get it fixed or am I better off just getting a whole new seat from somewhere?
2) The radio doesn't play AM so I can't listen to 5 live. I did notice the aerial was snapped off so I've ordered a new one. The ICE is pretty woeful. Does anyone have any recommendations for a Android Auto? Is it simply a case of going to Halfords and getting a double din touchscreen thing?
3) Only one key
4)The boot doesn't open using the button on the keyfob.
It's booked in to my local VW specialist next week for a look over and oil change. I'm not sure it needs it but whenever I buy a second hand car I always try and get at least an oil change done straight away.
I've also dug out my old silver disklok! I'm not even sure these are thief magnets anymore but as it's new I'm still feeling quite precious about it
