What's your opinion on cream leather interior please?
Discussion
Hi,
Looking at a few Jaguar XF's as a replacement for my recently written off car.
I do like the look of one particular XF that has cream leather interior
My wife hate's it as we've always had black/dark interiors, but I kind of like it. Has anyone got any real experience living with a cream interior that you can share? What's your thoughts, is it as awful as my wife seems to think it is?

I've always been a fan of lighter interior colours, far less like sitting in a dark cave. Black can be "ok" when there's a decent degree of daylight in the cabin (decent sized sunroof or panoramic roof for example, or a convertible with the roof off), but I always find a cabin feels less clostrophobia inducing when it's a nice light colour.
I miss the light grey (rock grey?) interior I had in my Audi S3 Saloon, and I love the "Aniseed" interior in my Mk1 3.2 V6 Audi TT.
I wish my 440i had a lighter interior.

I like a cream interior. I find it brightens the car interior up and it's not a cornucopia of black. It shows up dirt much more though.
I remember seeing a tan interior on a Lotus Esprit that Wheeler Dealers did. That looked awful to me. A nice light cream colour is the nuts to me though.

I would not consider a car with an interior in any colour other than black. Even stone grey - as found in some Porsches - is a no no. The worst ever was a Porsche 993 that had a Metropole Blue interior, which I had changed to black at considerable cost. I also really dislike those two tone interiors that you sometimes see. Therefore cream leather is a big NO from me.
That said, the only exterior colour I wouldn't have is black.........

Previous car (BMW M240i) had an ivory interior which was basically a light cream with black dash, carpets and roof lining. I owned the car three years and whilst I did like it, it was a nightmare to keep clean and could easily look scruffy. I wear jeans for work and any new jeans were a nightmare for leaving die on the seats.
They show wear badly in my experience too.
When I bought my current car I was adamant I wouldn't have a light interior again, my current car is black leather. The dealer I traded my car in with saw the light interior as a big selling point and said it would appeal to buyers.

I think light coloured trim against dark paint looks great. Lovely, airy and luxurious looking. But, as said above, quickly shows ingrained dirt and blue die from jeans. Can be kept looking great with regular leather cleaner and preserver.
Far more practical is dark trim and light paint, which doesn't highlight stone chips so much.

We have light grey leather interior and it certainly lifts what would be a very dark interior. Has got light grey accents on the door cards as well and I think it looks much better than black.
Would have preferred tan leather but I'm in the anything but black camp and will actively seek out a light interior.

What's your opinion? That's all that matters surely? Looking at a few Jaguar XF's as a replacement for my recently written off car.

We had Ivory White leather(and cream carpets/floor mats) in the F13 640d. I loved how it lifted the interior, however it was a pain in the backside to look after with 2 kids though. So since then we've always gone for boring black leather interiors/black carpets instead.
The lighter interiors do look miles better than black though for me.

I've just got rid of a BMW 730d with cream leather interior. Admittedly, I wasn't hauling rubble and muck to the tip every week, but I wasn't anal about it either. It stayed looking absolutely gorgeous. The only aspect that did, on close inspection, look a little less than pristine were the cream seat belts.
