This 8600 miles from new Series I XJ6 popped up on one of my Facebook grouos this morning and have to say, if I had the room I'd love it.

That's a lovely low miler, looks like it doesn't need anything that a good detail wont sort out.. Series 1 XJ's do look cool...

So it would need a careful check over, but as you say really lovely.
Perhaps something like this is the answer to my questions about whether to spend the time and money on getting my X300 back on the road.

What I find that is, I love the series 1 XJ6.

It'll be interesting to see what it goes for, then the new owner will have the dilemma of whether to re paint it as suggested by the seller or leave it original.

If the eventual owner is reading this, please don't do a colour change, especially not to some modern colour.

Same here, but it's a relatively easy fix

Last year at the NEC show I tried to coax a mate into buying a one owner, low mileage S1 XJ6, he was tempted to cash in a pension and bag a nice old Jag but he bottled it in the end. Might try it again at this year's show...!

Yep, brings back distant childhood memories for me, my dad had a series 1 Daimler Sovereign 4.2 manual in exactly that colour, albeit with a black interior. After all these years he still rates it as the best car he's ever had.

Unfortunately it was replaced by a disastrously unreliable Jaguar XJ3.4.

Gorgeous colour combo as well......can't have been many built in that metallic coral colour, let alone survived.

Reminds me of the stunning, super rare Porsche Salmon metallic on 911's from the same era.

I've got one, along with the V12 LWB Jaguar mentioned earlier in the thread (and another project one). Certainly rare things in any colour now.

That green over green 4.2 manual needs a fair bit of TLC and is overpriced, and failed to sell at Historics earlier this year.

They're both stunning, especially the Double Six, that colour really is lovely and the chrome wheels just set it off.

The Double Six Vanden Plas in both in series 1 and series 2 were available in a few quite distinctive metallic colours which must have been quite special in the early-mid 1970s. I remember seeing a photo of a series 2 in a dark blue almost purple metallic.
