I take it back, Austin was a real treat- an actual race! Hopefully Merc and McLaren can carry on with their development and 2024 will be more competitive.

On now to Mexico, and the Checo show- which will be a bit awkward if he’s still lining up 9th on the grid. Ricciardo needs to start showing something to justify his AT deal next year (which is still lost on me).

Here’s to a great race. Again, poll is for 2nd. (Alonso falls off the potential winners menu).

Date(s): Friday 27 to Sunday 29 October 2023.

If we get to see someone other than Max wearing the Pirelli winners sombrero, my vote is for Lando.

Really enjoy this track until the DRS on the big long straight. Its hard to see anyone staying in front of either Red Bull in that regard, their DRS and top line is so impressive.

Max 1st and Lewis second for me.
as much as I want Lando to win, I think Lando or Sainz for 3rd!

Cheers for the threads Piap. Always a good source of pre-race information and post race entertainment.

Think everyone should remember as the thread goes on, everyone will have an opinion, and they're all fine to be discussed, lets maybe be better than insults and unnecessary 'snapping' at one an other!

Happy race people, wonder if we'll see a yellow flag here?!

Another outlier of a circuit, with the highest altitude of the season meaning that aero looks like Monaco but speeds look like Monza.

Same race time as Austin, so joint worst of the season (for me anyway).

An easy pole and win for MV last year, but with the Mercedes closer than they had been for most of the year. Might the Mercs and McLarens be in with a chance of the win here, after coming so close last weekend?

Yes, I’m a member of a number of dedicated F1 fora, but PiaP’s summaries succinctly bring together pretty much everything I need to know in advance and I usually start here 👍

Thanks PiaP!! The #01 posting on all PH imho...

Hoping disappointment doesn't come in threes for Lewis. First one was self-inflicted. Second one MB inflicted. No number three please...

Enjoy!

Redbull usually go well here, I'm expecting a 1-2 with Max making absolutely certain Checo doesn't get a sniff of a win.

Thanks PiaP! I can’t see anything other than a Max win here, unless Checo does manage to qualify well and gets desperate at the start, resulting on an RB double-elimination.

I wonder what Max’s reception will be like fro the “fans”? frown

Yep. Pretty piss poor in the last ceremony. I cannot stand gloating or unsporting behavior...even from "fans"...

Went for Checo just for the hope of it ... probably won't be him though.

Low tyre degradation, low drag and low DRS advantage. I wonder if we could see Red Bull having to do multiple laps to get the tyres working and struggling a bit with pace and traffic in qually. Mclaren and Ferrari should be less penalised by tyre degradation issues and drag than elsewhere.

Whose PU works best at altitude? I'm guessing probably not Mercedes'.

Not ruling out a non-RB pole or upset caused by altitude / cooling / mileage related DNFs.

Thanks for the thread PiaP, I can definitely see MV wanting to put one over on SP here, and SP wanting to do everything he can for a good finish, with RB's current advantage, if they are close on the grid, we may see some action off the line until MV disappears into the distance, or might they take each other out ?, certainly MV has nothing to lose if this happens, so you can bet any defence will be more than robust !

Out of the rest I can see McLaren doing well at altitude, with Mercedes following close behind / pipping them on race pace.

Plus one for the thanks to PIAP for the starter post thumbup

I think Checo will overtry and end up making mistakes and probably quite early in the weekend as well.

Mostly hoping Merc and McLaren can keep up their recent improvements but find it hard to see past a Max win on this circuit.

However my my real hope is nothing mad happens and the thread doesn't turn bonkers post race tongue out

That's akin to a Miss World contestant wishing for world peace.

Ain't gonna happen.

I'm going to guess that Mercedes go well here. The high altitude should negate their lack of top-end to some extent and the car looked very good last weekend, although I guess we don't know how much performance would have been lost had Hamilton been running at a legal ride height.

I hope Perez goes well, but I have a feeling he'll be so desperate to do well that he'll over-drive and either mess up qualifying or crash out of the race (or both).

RB will give him the same engine mode as Max for this race
