Hi, my friend has changed his Pirelli's (on the front) to Hankook and noticed a change to ride of his car. He's had Hankook's on the rear now for over a year with no problems. Any help thanks.
Did you mean to ask a question?

Or did you just want to point out that the car handles in an unspecific 'different' manner due to putting new tyres on where there used to be old ones?

lumpy?

Have to be more specific...vibrations as speed increases? harsher over bumps?

Like for like new tyres should ride better as there is more material to absorb shocks but across brands, could be the hankooks have a stiffer sidewall, are runflat or maybe even just the old tyres were low on pressure.

He's had Hankook's on the rear now for over a year with no problems but says the front seems lumpy. He went back to the garage & they said drive it for a few hundred miles which he doesn't feel safe doing. He's had the car tracked & balanced. 2017 320d

RFTs or non RFTs?

New tyres always need a few hundred miles to scrub in properly.

Any issues re the suspension; has he had that checked over etc?

As i only posted limited information (sorry) my pal has changed his front tyres on his standard 2017 BMW 320d approx 40k miles from Pirelli to Hankook & feels that the comfort of the car has deteriorated. The tyre supplier has said to do a few hundred miles to scrub them in but he's thinking yeah right - I'll do a few hundred miles then they'll say sorry we can't take them back...so he's ringing Hankook now - let's see what happens...

So exactly what I said then above...

New tyres do need to scrub in; they're new and covered in releasing agents and they need to dissipate for the tyre to feel at it's best. As said, a few hundred miles and they'll be as they should be
