Assuming you need 4 doors?
The XE is a good shout. But also consider the XF, more space for not too much extra - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202310132...
Probably the best drivers car in the sector Alfa Giulia. - Something like this - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202310052...
2.0T in budget for <50K miles

Thanks Mouse Rat for the XF nudge. Never considered that before because I (wrongly) thought they would be out of budget. The XE is a good shout. But also consider the XF, more space for not too much extra - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202310132...

Around the 16-17k mark.
Or would you step up to the Guilia instead? Or even the C300 Merc

I've placed a deposit on a 2017 XF 2.0 (250ps) in Corris Grey metallic. It's was £44k new that includes £4k of some nice options.
Only done 26k miles and full service history.
I'm test driving it tomorrow with a view to buy.
Wish me luck!
Good luck, keep us posted how it goes and one of the colours i like. Only done 26k miles and full service history.

I also like the XE but agree the Giulia's an obvious one to look at if you're interested primarily in how the car drives. By all accounts they're not the best when it comes to "in-car tech" - not an XE forte either - but personally I care more about the way a car goes down the road than how responsive its touchscreen is!The XE is a good shout. As much as I like the XE, I would take the Giulia in Veloce form over the R Sport as the extra legroom & slightly more punchy engine would just edge it for me.Around the 16-17k mark.

BUT you'll be hard pressed to get one on budget vs the Jag.

Jags I’ve seen a nice example at £16k. 4K difference im pondering.
Quick update.
Test drove the XF and loved it! It's in very good nick with only a couple of paintwork marks that I'm sure will polish out.
Other than that not too much to fault so I purchased it.
If the weather allows I'll attempt to clean it up to make it nice and presentable so I can take a few shots to share with you on here.
Hopefully this weekend
