Any suggestions for something fun under 10k with decent MPG and not massively high miles already on it?

Thanks!

It's a bit broad.

Could be anything from a zippy city car, a lightweight roadster to a big diesel barge or 4x4.

Needs narrowing down a bit.

What do you count as decent MPG? 20, 30, 40 MPG? Do you do a lot of miles yourself?

We can rattle of a bunch of cars but without knowing that then you're going to get a bunch of generic answers.

Mini Cooper S or SD

Kia ProCeed GT or Ceed GT

Ford Focus ST-1,2,3 or ST diesel

Honda Civic FN2 Type R

Vaux Astra VXR

Peugeot 208 GTI

Skoda Octavia VRS and VRS Diesel

Seat Leon FR/Cupra

Volvo V40 T5 or D4

Renault Megan RS or Clio RS

Subaru WRX

VW Golf GTI/GTD

There's so many to pick from and it completely depends on what you need a car for.

The GTC VXR will see 24mpg around town & low to mid 30's on a run.

So that's around 13k a year just doing that 5 days a week. In theory then that means you're probably doing around 14-15k a year. So anything really on the list will get you between that bar the Subaru WRX.

I can get up to 36mpg out of my FN2, probably have averaged 32-33mpg over the years I have.

It depends if you want the 'hard work' of an N/A engine and VTEC, or the instant grunt of a turbo charged engine.

Aren't they afflicted with the same gearbox and piston issues as the Corsa VXR though?

Another vote for the FN2. I had a 2010 Type R GT in Milano Red for a few years. Fantastic thing. Just needed good tyres, full EBC Yellow Stuff pads and a proper attention to the service schedule. The stiff ride is fun unless you end up doing long commutes in it, it feels like a go-kart and the scream even from the standard induction when it comes on cam is addictive. I only regret not buying one sooner, it would have been brilliant when I was younger and worked in the city with a sub 20 mile drive home.
