Ferrari Pursangue

Afternoon all,
So my neighbour has literally just had his new Ferrari Pursangue delivered, I believe he was the first UK customer order, but approx 5th UK delivery.
Whilst he's my neighbour, and he does have quite a car collection, he's very Ferrari (imagine the scene from friends with Joey and the Porsche outfit) obsessed, I was wondering if any other PH'ers have had there's or have ordered one. Its a stunning car in the flesh, not as big as I expected but the design is really something. Just really curious to opinions. I know the car in mainstream media had people slagging it off, but honestly I think its stunning, plus the engine sounds like something else! I haven't had the pleasure of a ride in it (yet) plus he also hasn't as he's had to go away with work. Based on what the Urus did for Lambo and the Bentagya did for Bentley, I honestly think this car could be a master stroke for Ferrari.
PS I couldn't even afford a Tyre for this car, so my post is in no one there to light the flame of bias etc

I can't stand the Purosangue, Urus and Bentayga tbh (although if I had to have one it'd be the Bentley).
Agree it's a smart move for Ferrari but I'll never buy one as I just think they're fugly. That much said I also hate the GTC4, FF etc etc so I'm probably just not the target demographic.

Like you say a stunning looking SUV.. however the price Ferrari is charging for it is insane, no way it should cost that much but Ferrari now is for the shareholders not the customers. I’ve owned enough Ferraris since 1995 and the XX & maybe F167, will be my last. Then I’m going to put only 2 Ferraris in my garage, from the back catalogue, F12 & 458 Speciale, which in hindsight were pinnacle cars from Ferrari and all you ever need. Ferrari have never been the same since Luca d M left the company, just didn’t realize it until 10 yrs later! If you prefer newer Ferraris, and you want their Purosangue, wait for the V6 Hybrid version after all the V12 orders are allocated, shareholders will demand the Purosangue V6 Hybrid…
I’m conflicted about the PS. On the one hand I quite like it, but on the other hand it’s unbelievably expensive. It’s no secret that Ferrari jacked up the price by circa £100k once they realised the demand was there, and that says it all. The car needs to be cheaper, but I can’t fault Ferrari for looking after its business and taking as much cash as it can from the eager punters. Thats good for all future models as it gives the business cash to invest in the exciting stuff (I hope).
Having said all that, if the miracle of depreciation comes to the PS (and it surely will), then it may be a tempting addition to the fleet at some point in the future. Round my way (Cheshire) the streets are littered with Rolls Culinans, Bentaygas, Aston DBX and Urus. All those cars are far more practical than the PS, and most are cheaper. This is important round our way as the people driving them are usually housewives with kids. They need a practical SUV that’s easy to understand and drive - and I can’t see them wanting a PS which just isn’t. So I don’t rate its prospects on the used market after the initial buyer froth has worn off. Maybe I’m clutching at straws!

Sorry… definitely clutching at straws! Given Ferrari is going to be making less than half as many per year than as a Urus, I would say this is going to be about as safe a purchase as you can make (assuming you get the n/a V12 and not the upcoming hybrid version- although this may offer even higher performance).

Sorry but I don’t buy that argument. The same could be said about the FF and GTC4 Lusso, and both of those were way cheaper than a PS yet depreciated at an immense rate. subirg said:

Agreed, once the usual premium nonsense is over you will be golden in 18 months. UK market quickly works out if the RRP was set too high at the off. Purosangue will go the same way as SF90 & 296 on secondary market, way over priced to start with. Other countries will retain better values but the UK market works it out quicker. I turned down my PS allocation when they told me the price. 2 months later the usual all sold out for 2 years, last 6 weeks I’ve been asked again by 3 dealers, 2 UK 1 Europe, maybe cancelled orders but most probably more allocations available now. Anyway it’s the best looking SUV out there, but it’s usability and price, it’s a big NO from me. Lord_Howit_Hertz said:

I think very few Purosangues will be coming in at less than £400k configured. The base price is (or was) £313k and the options list as always is long and tempting. So it’s in another price league completely from the Urus and Bentayga.
Ferrari said they were limiting production to 2000 pa so as not to become an SUV manufacturer with a sideline in sports cars like Porsche and Lamborghini.
It’s great that the V12 is getting a reprieve and hopefully we’ll see a replacement for the 812 before long.
I think it looks sensational in the metal, quite colour sensitive. Anyone who has one on order is lucky indeed.

AFAIK Ferrari have only developed one 4WD system, the one introduced on the FF, which works by taking power to the front wheels off the front of the V12 crankshaft.Thus they had a choice of (a) drop the existing V12 4WD system into the PS, or (b) develop an entirely new 4WD system around a V8T or V6TH engine.
Option (a) means lower R&D investment giving a product with higher perceived value and reinforcing the message that it's a real Ferrari, so I'm not that surprised they went that way.

With the V8 it would basically be a less practical version of the Levante Trofeo at about 3 times the priceIt’s lunacy that they’re limiting the production of their most practical model. £400k for an SUV is such a lot of money. Soon as this isn’t the latest and greatest it’ll absolutely bomb in value as nobody will want to collect them.
