Hi all,
Got a 07 pre LCI e92 330i which currently has crap cheap runflats on (they came with the car). A couple of scary experiences and a puncture has prompted me to change them so I'm looking for suggestions. Ideally I want something comfortable (going to go up a profile to 225/45 and 255/40) and quiet without breaking the bank. The wheels are 18 inch mv3 if that makes a difference. Do have access to a Costco card so that is an option, though the tyres don't seem overly cheap. Any advice welcome smile

I always use either Goodyear or Michelin. If you’re changing tyre size I doubt Costco changing them.

- Uniroyal Rainsport 5s & Nexen N'Fera SU1s (these are as 'cheap' a tyre I'll personally run, but have found both to be very good indeed - 17s/18s and 19s)
- Goodyear Assym6s
- Michelin PS4s
- Vredestein Ultrac Vorti's

They'd be my recommendations.

Have a look on tyrereviews.co.uk (and Youtube) for reviews

Camskill, Asda Tyres, Tyreleader and MyTyres are my go-to's for sourcing. Always found Blackcirles a rip off personally. Don't have a local Costco, so can't comment re their choices/prices etc

I’m running Good Year Asymmetric 6’s on my wife’s 330i and rate them; they tend to be a bit cheaper than Michelin Pilot Sports which I think are a slightly better wet weather tyre.

Because 19 inch tyres are obnoxiously expensive now, I’m running Falkens on the rear of my 335i and they seem pretty good. They took a while to scrub in but I can’t say they’re any worse than the Asymmetric 5’s they replaced.

I’ve run Kumho’s on various cars in the past and they’re pretty good too.

Costco might be really awkward if you try and change from the OE size. I had a debate with them when sized up from a 245 to a 255 rear tyre on my wife’s old 125i. They relented in the end but I had to sign something to say that they weren’t to blame if it caused any issues (which it didn’t).

I’ve been a fan of Uniroyal Rainsports for some years now and been great in all weathers and at speed.

Uniroyals seem to get a good review from most, they're pretty cheap on camskill as well so will probably give these a shot!

They're really good IMO; great for the UK weather too, they suit our climate well... Not too firm a sidewall either, so give a compliant ride thumbup

I've got them fitted to the wife's Racing Jazz; had them in 19s on a previous BMW E39 530i Sport too and they were superb

FiL ran them on his F10 530D too, 245/45/18s all round and he really rated them

Conti Sport Contact (6 I think now)
Goodyear Eagle F1 (whatever number they are up to)
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. (5 may be available now)

I’ve used all of these as run flats on my E91. All have great grip. The Michelin’s have slightly better ride quality than the others. The Unis are a rung down the quality ladder.

If you change your tyre profile your gearing will change and the ABS/DSC will not function as intended. It will still work though.

Michelin Pilot Sports for me.

But the midrange brands (Hankook, Kumho etc) are worth a look if money is an issue.

Kumho are often overlooked; they were brilliant tyres when I used them

The KU39s were excellent IMO; no idea what's in the current range though now

I’ve always got in with Kumho’s having run them on my E46, her old F56 Cooper and 125i.

I cannot fault my Michelin Pilot Sport 5's on my F36 428i.Good grip in all weathers including the cold snap in March. Compared to the Pirelli run flats I had road noise is massively reduced and the ride is so much better. It's much less crashy over potholes and bumps. They weren't cheap, £750 for a full set as Costco couldn't get a hold of the rears at the time but the tyres had not long been out so stock was sparse in the UK.
