Love to know more about this Cobra replica build

Just stumbled across a couple of pics of it

Running an F430 engine, transaxle and looks a fantastic quality build if not to all tastes) but can't find anything more about it other than its owned / built by someone in the Midlands

Looks ok from the front but the rear diffuser ruins it from the rear

Bet its a fun drive though

Agree. Also, completely wrong wheels for the car.
The diffuser on the back of a classic 1960s bodyshell gives me the ick too.

The F430 engine (flat plane crank, high revving) is completely inappropriate and out-of-character for a Cobra, too, IMO: just as awful, in its way, as the old Pligrim Cobra replicas that were fitted with 4-pot Ford Pintos.

Someone saying "F430 engine" and "transaxle" makes me wonder if it is the flat plane crank engine, or if it's donor vehicle was a Maserati Granturismo maybe?

They did build the CRS cobras with those lotus 3.5 litre v8’s out of the esprit. They were flat plane, but yes they definitely sound strange, not what you expect!

Hell, I even think it’s wrong for them to put the Chevy engine in them now!

Has to be a Ford motor really doesn’t it?

I am afraid you got that wrong, none of the CRS cars were fitted with 3.5 engines, all have Ford V8 engines. Some of the Brooklands Aces I believe had lotus derived engines, but still not 3.5 to my knowledge.

No, Julian's quite correct: they were called the 212 S/C rather than the CRS ('Carbon Road Series'), but that's splitting hairs 'cos they did have carbon bodies.
