I’m about to change my tyres from run flats to normal, non run flats. I’ve been running the run flats at the stated BMW recommended pressure (on the door pillar) Do I run the non run flats at the same pressure?

I've gone 2 PSI higher all round on my F31 with non RFTs (235/45/18s all round) and have found it to ride better than the recommend BAR/PSI pressures..

Start off with the OEM recommendations and do a bit of trial and error from there

Always wondered what you guys do when going to run flat to non run flat, do you carry a spare in the boot (not that i've got any spare wheel well in my F11 anyway) or just hope for the best?

Tyre sealant and a compressor in the boot.

RAC cover for when the sealant doesn't seal the tyre.

As already stated; decent breakdown cover and a decent tyre repair kit/tyre sealant spugged away in the boot floor...

Never had any issues in all the years I've been driving

Yes, and adjust sensibly around that point to your preferred level. I run my staggered run flats towards the full load pressure settings.
(A technical comment, if your car came from new with run-flats, then that is ‘normal’)

I have an F32 which managed to go through 5 tyres in a year. After waiting 3+ hours for recovery it now has a spare from Chris at Alloy Wheels Direct in the boot and, after the first 2, tyre insurance from Motor Easy which cost the equivalent of 1 tyre and I'd say I had my money's worth.

For those who ask about running non run flats and lack of a spare wheel. Bear in mind that all proper M cars do NOT use run flats. So that snazzy M5 you see in the dealer. No spare tire. Can of gunk and a compressor. It speaks volumes that BMW never fit run flats to their M cars. Shame there is no well for a spare but that’s the way they are.

Unless you are very unlucky it’s just not much of an issue if you have full breakdown cover.

I switched mine over to standard tyres to fix the abhorrent ride quality. Never looked back! Just carry a can of gunk and a compressor.

Also keep in mind that your run flat will not be the saviour of you knacker your wheel and tyre on a pot hole. Only solution then is a proper spare. Or the AA.
