Fun different useable 2 seater/ 2+2/convertible £10-30k

Right, so I have finally gone and bought the M5 (f10) and very happy with it.

So I am selling some other cars and looking for a fun runaround/daily/weekend sort of car, current options I am running through include

I should probably have said £10-20k as I wouldnt want to spend more than £20k unless I really got a good deal (yes I am looking at V8 Vantages)


Cayman of various types
Boxster of various types
Vx220 or 220 turbo - probably too raw
XKR - possibly too GT like given the M5 (tell me if I have the wrong idea here)
911s
SLK - 55?
Sl500/55
370z/350z


Im struggling to get excited by some of these - what seems to be the most appealing is a really nice early cayman S or a nice boxster s. There was a Ninemeister fettled gen 1 Boxster S pushing nearly 300hp on Ebay for a while which was very interesting

Left field ideas really welcome

I opted for a 987.2 Boxster S. They’re thin on the ground, but it’s fab.

Find a few more £k and you’ll be into M2 money.

Going private on the M2 forum you’d get tidy one probably with BMW extended warranty.

Maybe similar to the M5 but it’s a completely different character to the more mature siblings. The OG is quite reliable, a serious bundle of laughs, slightly on the dangerous side (can see why the comps toned it down), rapid and sounds brilliant.

Left field but older 2+2s - Porsche 968 or 944, BMW 8 series (the 90s one, can’t remember the model code). I also think the E36 M3 cabrio has something quite interesting about it.

I’d find it hard to look past a boxster/cayman if 2 seats is enough.

Was looking at M2s last night actually,

E36 I did get mention but is high on the list

I almost want a 328i coupe more than an m3 and I really don't know why

Old porsches I hadn't thought of that's a great shout will look now

Honda s2000, Lotus Elise, Audi TTs and don't forget base Caymans/Boxsters too....I've had a few each of Caymans & Boxsters, most were S models but the last one (sold it 2 mths ago) was a base Boxster 987 gen2 and it was fantastic. Not as fast but easily the best driving experience.
