How long to get V5 used car.

I don't buy used very often, how long before the V5 comes back? It's been a couple of weeks now, I notice on the DVLA site you can't chase them untill 6 weeks has elapsed.

I've done a few post COVID. Doing the transfer online, all have been back within a week. If you posted the form, expect that to be a lot longer (thus the 6 week thing)

Laas time I bought a car (july 23), the V5 took around a week adn tehn to change the numberplate it was about a week again.

Picked up a car last Thursday, the owner did the change on his phone while I was there, the new V5 arrived on the Monday.

If you send the V5 off I expect it is put in a pile for someone to type it into the system and it'll take some random amount of time. Or get lost.

I've bought loads of cars over the last few years. The logbook always seems to arrive within a week.

The only time it didn't was when I bought a car from Cazoo and they failed to register it in my name, so not the DVLA's fault at all. I had to chase Cazoo up who eventually did register the car to me.

I too had to chase up the dealer to actually register the change of ownership with the last car I bought.
I'm sure it was entirely co-incidental that the car was on SoR, and thus the V5 change would have notified the previous owner that the sale had completed and they were now due their money from the dealer...

About a fortnight, for both online and postal (had to amend a spelling mistake). This was in September last year. So pretty efficient.
