Had my 335d for 3 years now, and have been considering a remap for it for some time.
For anyone that’s had this done, does the remap affect all settings on the car, (eco, comfort, sport, sport+) of does it just change the sport settings?

I hope you’ve got a G-suit!

You can only remap the "fully loaded" models.

OP, this is the context for a now long tired PH meme.

I'd fix the suspension and brakes first as it can't cope as it is, like a cork bobbing on the sea.

The drive mode settings won't change, youe will get a load more torque for not much outlay but I would recommend a conservative map as its very easy to go over the torque rating for the gearbox in the 335d. Evolve Tuning are very good with BMW's.

Doesnt change any of the drive settings as far as im aware. So far ive mapped a 335i and a 330d, and both have been great after the map. I used angel tuning in banbury.

Ps the meme is well founded. My remapped 330d is, in my opinion, the perfect all rounder car. Id imagine a remapped 335d would be really very good indeed.

Think it's Simon at eMaps that gets good reception on here; might be worth seeking out and speaking to someone who does this as their job...

But do recall seeing a conservative map for the 335D due to what the ZF8 can take etc

Thanks for all the replies so far.
I’ve only ever had the focus st remapped and that was with the bluefin handset. So just an ots map.
With the BMW having 4 driving modes I wondered how the map affected each individual mode? Do they all get a power boost? As they basically act as 4 separate maps on the car. I wanted to know if you had to put it in sport or sport+ or does the map improve the power in comfort mode? (Default mode)
Just so I’m clear on what you actually get.

There are very few OEM cars that make different levels of power in each mode. In fact, off the top of my head the E60 M5 V10 is the only one I can think of. It has about 400hp or 500hp if you push a button.

All the modes do in relation to power is adjust the throttle mapping. Eco massively dulls the response and builds in a lag to smooth out jerky inputs from bad drivers. Comfort is sort of normal but still a bit delayed. Sport is often what it should be but with 100% of the throttle mapped over 50% of the pedal travel, so halfway down you're already asking for full power. I miss the days of a cable throttle and it just does what you ask!

In other words a remap changes the power level in all modes, although the response will make it feel stronger in Sport etc.

In the interests of balance; I had the same engine mapped in my 640d by a very-well respected tuner. Of all the cars i've ever had mapped (which is plenty) the results on this engine were the least noticeable.

I think this was mostly because the %age increase in torque was relatively minor in order to protect the gearbox.

The main positive from the experience was that it minimised the ZF8 kicking down to 7th in comfort mode at NSL sort of speeds.

In the same boat again, I'd save my money tbh.

I've had N47 (twin turbo), M57, N54 and N55 engines mapped and the differences were far more transformational.

I had a M240i that had eco, comfort, sport and Sport plus, never used eco but a remap affects all the other settings in the same way.

You will get the same power output on each mode its the throttle response and other bits potentially that change but the power level is the same on each mode

same for me. although mine is a plug and play from ecotune.

slightly better mid range but overall not a huge difference stage 1 as i have noticed on all other cars

maybe its the weight that hides it so well. maybe the map isn't great.

i really don't want to go down to NVM and spend another 1,500 just to notice a tiny bit more so tempted by "stage 2" with just a DP and intercooler they get around 400hp and 800nm (check the youtube videos)

but again is that enough of a difference over even a mediocore stage 1. i'm not sure

I've found that the Alpina gearbox map achieves the same thing too & makes for a more refined drive for less than £100.
Sorting this out has cooled any engine remap interest for me.

My 335d (unremapped) certainly does not ‘kick down’ to 7th at NSL, any change down is barely noticeable, just a flicker of the rev counter if it catches your eye at all.
