Hand brake improvement.
Discussion
Hi all, I haven’t posted on the Cerbera forum before.
Just thought this mod. was worth sharing. I’ve had a
5l Chimaera for the last 10 years and the Cerbera for the last 2. While this would be probably out of the question if you were paying someone to do it those of you who are engineering minded like myself it wasn’t too big of a deal. I did have the exhaust, sway bar, heat shield and drive shaft already off as I was doing the diff pinion seal.
It’s comprised of a Suzuki GN 250 clutch cable cut and Re purposed. A piece of 20 x3 mm flat anchoring one end around a chassis cross tube. The cable then goes around a 60mm nylon wheel which is anchored by a folded over to form a U shape with around 80mm of m8 threaded rod welded to it which goes through the original cable equaliser. Finally the remaining end goes through a piece of the GN outer with the thread on through the original cable anchor and then finally a loop crimped in the end that attaches the the lever. Anyway I hope the pictures fill in the explanation. (As you can see there is plenty of room for the mod.)The result is a 2 to1 leverage ratio improvement over standard which results in more travel but a much improved hand brake.
