Got home last night after a gr8 drive back in the sun to find a hole in my front door and that i'd been burgled!

Laptops, cameras that kind of thing.

But more worryingly was my spare keys with the meta code attached - spare set never used - and the service book and ownership papers!

Does anyone know of a way I can disable the car easily each evening, at the mo i've removed a certain part but this is a pain everytime I want to pop out for milk!

Also getting the key fob recoded and a new log book as now I dont have any service history for her :(

Soooo much to do today and was meant to be off to the coast today too :(

Remove one or more relays - ignition / fuel / starter etc. and buy a good steering lock as a visble deterent (or remove the wheel completely)

Remove the aluminium key in the cubby hole? I think that shuts everything down (but may cause other probs, hence the opening statement

If you have a 2nd car, can you leave the Tiv at a mates house for a few days ?

The other option is buy your self a wheel clamp ! Far easier than removing a steering wheel (although more costly).....

In the hole below the radio, next to the slot for the immobiliser, should be a short metal key. I believe its the isolator for the electrics (or something similar )

If you want to stop them driving it away, there are various critical bits that you can remove. The most effective would be to completely remove the ECU, it is rather unlikely they would happen to have a spare with them! But this is a lot of hassle for you. The next best thing is to replace a good component with a faulty one, for example replace the king HT lead with one that looks identical but doesn't have a conductor (given a good working lead it is very easy to take the conductor out). This is much harder to diagnose than simply removing the rotor arm or whatever.

If they have keys then there is nothing you can do to stop them unlocking the steering and pushing the car away unless you physically secure it, for example by blocking it in with another vehicle or fitting a wheel clamp.

Thanks guys, shes been disabled now so can sleep a bit easier, calling Meta this morning.

Anyone know what I can do about the owners manual / service history though?

What a nightmare.

As for the service history, you should be able to get hold of a new handbook from the factory. I am sure if you speak to the garages that carried out the service work, you'll be able to get copy invoices and a stamp for the handbook. I appreciate that it may not be as comprehensive as you would like, but it's better than nothing when/if you come to sell the car.

Firstly, sorry to hear about the bad news.

The good news, to an extent, is you can reprogramme the Meta alarm yourself.

If you put the alarm into 'learn mode' by continually arming and disarming the vehicle (twelve times I think) you then re-introduce the key-fobs. Any which are not re-introduced are then deleted from the system and consequently won't work.
