Car buying help.

Hi,
I hope someone can help.

I have a VW Golf 1.5 tsi (150bhp) 70 plate with 36k and I wish to trade in for a Ford Focus Titanium with same plate but 10k less miles. Car owned, no finance.

Online trade in is £14,400 for the Golf and list price for the Focus is £15,400

What deal should I be looking at, Golf currently retailing on AT at about £17k but where do I pitch the deal, could it be a straight swap or add money to or even expect money back. I appreciate the dealer needs to profit and the Golf will require an MOT and service but where do I need to be

I'd visit dealers and see where you stand - or sell via Motorpoint, Cazoo, Motorway etc if they offer more.

In my experience inevitably you will be adding money if its just a simple Trade in to the Dealer .
