Somewhat optimistically hoping to get a couple of grandstand tickets for the GP next year.

It's probably 20+ years since I was there - and that was only for club racing on the national circuit.

Grandstand prices seem to vary enormously - Is Luffield is likely a decent spot to watch from? Slowest part of the circuit, but decent passing opportunities under braking on entry.

Luffield is a good shout. Slow corner but you'll be able to see Brooklands which is good overtaking spot, plenty of action in genral round there and I believe the stand has a roof too - always helpful!

Got mine too! (My last time @ Silverstone was in 2000, and that was as a competitor)

The Silverstone website provides images from each of the stands e.g. Luffield: https://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/formula-1-bri...

Luffield has a great view (and is a little cheaper).

We tend to use Woodcote A as you get a better view and I think the cost is worth it. I got my tickets earlier today and I notice now that the three-day Woodcote A tickets are almost sold out!

Hamilton A, Abbey and Club B all sold out either in the membership or to people faster on the button than me this morning at 11. Got 4 in Club A, before the dynamic price rise kicked in, so a LOT cheaper than Club B ended up and even more cheaper than Hamilton A, which I might be wrong on but I saw top out at £869, Club B hit the £700s I think. All 3 day tickets, expect the 4 was worse.

If you are going for overtaking then with F1 its not going to happen unless you overlook the pits.

You are better off looking for corner speed, for that you want to be Becketts or Copse.

You would be better off going to watch the Moto GP and heading for Village.

Got to ask, have you been to Silverstone for the F1? Just sitting in Woodcote you can see cars overtake under braking down the Wellington Straight into Brooklands, there's usually a few with oversteer coming out of Luffield and into Woodcote with positions changing frequently. And that's to ignore the rest of the circuit...

I'd argue a view of the pits is the least dynamic part of the circuit.

Hadn’t realised tickets were on sale till I saw this post. Just booked Luffield. Is the Inner Track pass worth it or can we access food and drink without it?

Not since the 90’s and have no intention of ever going again for the F1. It’s bad enough on tv without actually being there. We were woodcote b for the moto gp this year and the distance from the stand to the track makes for poor viewing, also sat in club last year and on the bank and it’s just so far away from the action. It’s a combination of Silverstone and F1.

I see they're playing games with the pricing again - the Mrs just looked and it changed from 489 to 549 in a couple of minutes (the ticket we paid 310 for last time they played straight)

Can afford it, I mean we've travelled for races and spent a ton with planes hotels etc but all this malarky just pi55es me off.

They introduced 'dynamic' pricing....really frustrating.

Hoping they don't introduce the coins system for food like in Spa...VERY expensive and surely only introduced to confuse and think less about costs. Having said that, you're at the F1 so you can't expect things to be cheap!

Which does somewhat beg the question why respond to such a thread--the OP can take that perspective into account.

Woodcote A is incomparable to B in my opinion, it gives a far better view of the Wellington Straight, Luffield etc. Perhaps it's the formula that matters? I've not seen MotoGP live before, perhaps Silverstone just isn't the best circuit for it.

Dynamic pricing sounds like a fleecing the public policy to me...

Oh, very much so. As I said above, if you want to feel doubly done by you should go to Spa and use the 'coin' system (preloaded cards) to buy food and drink--total rip off but no other choice beyond bringing your own food.

it is only being done at the moment because the huge demand.

You cannot blame the venue for doing this, the demand is immense they need to maximise profit as much as possible and so long as people are prepared to be involved in this pricing structure and simply put up with it, it will continue.

It was not so long ago that the place was crippled with debt because of this event, so they are just doing as much as they can to make as much money as humanly possible out of their customers.

it is a choice too remember.
