Our 2019 M340i has suddenly dropped Carplay for both my wife's and my iPhones. Done the whole forget this device on both car and phones. There is a waiting software update through My BMW app but I can't get it to load because the pairing isn't enabling wifi connection as well as bluetooth:

When I try to force a wifi connect here, it won't enable this checkbox either by touchscreen or wheel:

Occasionally it pops up this message briefly but that checkbox never gets checked.

I can't see a wifi name related to BMW on either phone. Previously it just did bluetooth connect automatically with presumably wifi in the background. Phones are up to date with latest IOS, is this something to do with IOS 17 that BMW hasn't caught up with ?

Anyone any ideas ? This is driving us nuts, we're in a Catch 22 loop with that BMW update.

Reboot iDrive - hold down power button for 30-60 seconds - might help ?

That reinstated the wifi which is now a visible connection and hey presto CarPlay reappeared. Thanks

Still can't do the car software update though, that seems locked in a loop despite the reboot. Will let the service agents see if they can do it via a laptop connection.
