This is going to be a purchase pre-Christmas, to replace my 2015 911 Turbo S Cab.
My heart is saying 488 Spider, my head is saying Portofino would be a better option for me.

REALLY floats my boat.
I don't want another Porsche, I've always loveed Maclaren but something is niggling me about them.
911 has been excellent and never let me down, servicing has been reasonable so I fully expect a bit more cost involved in one of the above.
I also drive the 911 quite a lot, I imagine the above are also not as suited for higher mileage and use as often?
Open to ideas.

I was lucky enough to take a Portofino for a drive last year when I complimented a family friend's beautiful example. Admittedly I've got nothing supercar to compare it to but it was a wonderful drive and somehow felt both subtle and special enough to make me fall in love with it and yearn for one in the future.
I think a 488 would be a more enjoyable car for occasional use but having only ever been a passenger in one I couldn't even attempt to say how significant the jump would be.

Reliability and dealer service seems to have ranked highly on your good experience with Porsche, most likely you are you not going to get that with McLaren, they’re still not brilliant.
I’d say the Huracan is hard to beat for theatre, reliability, sound, performance & re-sale (next being a hybride)

Agree with what you say on all points there, I like most of the AMG GT apart from the rear and I don't think it'd be an upgrade in any area over the Turbo S, I could be wrong.
I think I'll try a couple of Huracans and try to judge if I could live with it. I don't think it'll be as easy as the 911.

Same, never liked the rear end of the GTR, i changed to the GTC however as it was mechanically identical; wide rear arches, 335 rear tyres, electric diff, 4 wheel steer, engine power (bar mapping) and yet looses the wing at the rear, now its the profile i like most. I think I'll try a couple of Huracans and try to judge if I could live with it. I don't think it'll be as easy as the 911.
Great as a GT and on cup2s with a simple map it betters GT3s on track, not quite GT3rs pace but not far off (if thats your thing)
Rear end though is sublime but i do like a shapely bum
good boot size with roof down, enough for to carry ons. + 2 ruck sacks.
Huracan as a daily many do, not sure on frunk space?? Imagine similar to R8? aventador is surprisingly good so maybe Huracan is to..
MC20s are down to your budget now, been dropping like crazy! Cielo still way too high tho.
Perhaps more GT than supercar, but DBS Superleggera Volante?

Re the servicing, it might be wise to at least look at those service history invoices?
It does have a 'lift' system and so could be more practical than some super cars, it's going to attract attention for sure and I suspect is wider than the 911 and so I suspect you'd just naturally use it less.
Just out of interest what does a person ie you! have as a daily is this sort of thing is on the menu for a special car?

Day to day is a Taycan Turbo S.This is why I want something a bit more outrageous and special than a 911 for occasions. I suspect I may even use it more than the 911.

Right, so nothing semi mundane at all then! I did see there was a company where you could hire one for the day, perhaps the only thing that may be worth doing before considering the Supercar foibles compared to a semi normal car like the 911?

Would be my choices, 488 second choice as sound is nowhere near as good to the larger, much more soulful and dramatic N/A V8 in the 458, plus I prefer the pinin farina styling of 458 which is at least a touch more elegant, reserved and therefore timeless. Performance- on the road in real UK driving conditions there is really nothing much in it.
Third choice Huracan, a great car too which certainly has it's positives although Ferrari would be first choice for me.
If you want a super car then make sure you get a super car and nothing less!
Don't be tempted by GT's posing as super cars, various AMG offerings or anything in that guise- get a proper, mid-rear engined two seater full blooded super car, don't compromise or go for lesser options if a super car is what you have your heart set on.

It’s a good point, 160 gets you into a 720 spider, think that’s where I’d go as a daily at 160, the ride in our coupe makes it very useable, tho using it regularly might get tiring and it lose that special feeling tbh.488 GTB

AMG wannabes, quite, AMG have only ever produced 2 cars, SLS and the GT

I like the look of this, and I know Amari having sold to him before I would be comfortable buying from them.
I think I'd prefer the 'more modern' 488 over the 458 and values are fairly similar from the research I've been doing.
However, I've been a Lambo fan as long as I remember and have always loved the Gallardo, but the Huracan is a bit more grown up IMO.
I like the look of this, and I know Amari having sold to him before I would be comfortable buying from them.
I think I'd prefer the 'more modern' 488 over the 458 and values are fairly similar from the research I've been doing.

Theres a great yt video vvs did about the Gallardo generations, learnt some stuff i didnt know, worth a look. Love the G but as a regular use car? I like the look of this, and I know Amari having sold to him before I would be comfortable buying from them.

Have a listen to the sound of 458 vs 488 if thats important to you, if cabrio then definitely test with roof down (from what ive been told)
