Was Apple CarPlay standard on 991.2 GT3

Hi

I am contemplating making an offer on a 991.2 GT3. The dealer says it does not have Apple CarPlay and that it was a rare thing for anyone to specify at the time, so not many 2017/2018 cars have it.

Can anyone on here confirm this to be true? Rennlist forums say it was standard on the US 991.2 cars but can’t find a UK thread anywhere that mentions whether it was or wasn’t.

Is the car at an OPC? If yes, what does the spec/features say on the Porsche Approved Used listing? I've always understood that to be accurate.

Some early 718 (982) cars, circa 2016, didn't have it as standard, but by 2017 and defintitely by 2018 Carplay was standard. So I've be surprised if a GT3, with the same head unit, didn't.

Yes it was. Unit could be deleted at no extra cost though.

Dealer is talking out of his arse. Apple Car Play became standard on Porsche cars around 2016/7. I’ve got a 991.2 GT3 which I ordered new…ithas Car Play…I didn’t have to spec it. Digital Radio was not standard and cost £336.00 ! Bose was £1002.00.

Thanks for confirming, I thought it was standard too.

When I viewed the car I didn’t have an iPhone lead to plug in; and couldn’t find CarPlay in the menu. Would I be right to assume it isn’t in the menu, but it just appears whenever you plug the iPhone in?

Interesting, and shows that standard equipment is different in different markets.

I definitely had to pay extra for CarPlay in 2018 (GT3RS) and 2022 (GT4) in Switzerland, and also in 2022 in Portugal (Macan).

Yes, only appears on the menu when phone is plugged in.

I have a lowly 991.2 GTS that has CarPlay and I use CarlinKit 3.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter which gives me wireless access and works pretty well most of the time.

Thankyou - I asked the dealer to do this and they got a surprise when CarPlay appeared.
