Morning all, hope everyone is well.
I’m hoping someone may be able to help.
I have a P reg S1 Elise and according to TfL this doesn’t meet ULEZ requirements - assume to do with the v5 from back then not having sufficient data etc.
Does anyone have a working knowledge of proving that it is compliant (I think it is) and then getting their car exempt?
Thanks

I don' t know specifically about Lotus cars, but with Porsches, you can ask Porsche for a Certificate of Conformity to prove it's NOX output and then submit to TFL to change their status to ULEZ allowed. I presume Lotus should be able to provide something similar.

Have a look on the SELOC forums, there's a thread on this I think - as said above it's about getting a certificate of provenance from Lotus as a starting point, I believe.

Think this may have sadly been a waste of time and money, managed to get a CoC via Bell and Colvill and put an application into TfL and they’ve just written back and told me that my car doesn’t meet the standard.
According to TfL the NOx level needs to be less that 0.08g/km, and according to the CoC report he Elise is 0.76g/in so almost 10x over the limit.
Feel like I’ve been done up like a kipper. What a waste of £150!

Did you not check the document before submitting it to see if the car was actually compliant?

In all honesty, no, but that element took all of 5 minutes and was free.
TfL are very unclear as to what is compliant or not, and taking SELOC, Autocar and Bell and Colvill’s info at face value meant I assumed it was.

To be fair, I’d read somewhere that the emissions were ok, but the ULEZ bit and the CoC are out by one decimal place….

Your CoC is looking wrong. Ask Lotus for a corrected version given you probably paid a fair amount for it. The S1 NOx level is 0.076g/Km.

Sorted. New CoC issued by lotus, and TfL have now sent confirmation of exemption.

Good news. Quite surprised at the speed of TFL's response!

Good news. Welcome to the legal London massive.

Once you’re on the database it seems a few other cities share it. More exemptions. Small win vs The Man.

May I ask what the procedure is for doing this?

Looking to get into Elise ownership and love the S1 but work just inside the ULEZ zone.

Thanks.

Once you have the car contact a Lotus dealer eg B&C pay them about 150 quid and furnish them with a copy of your V5. They will send you a certificate of conformity which you upload to TFL's website. It takes TFL a few days to respond and add your elise to the compliant database.

Was pretty straightforward for my my S1

Double-check all your paperwork as new S1 Elises would have had a CoC at sale.
Prompted by a SELOC thread I thought I’d get my ‘98 S1 registered.
Using the Gov.uk CAZ site, and sending photos of Pages 1 and 2 of the V5C and both sides of a the CoC, a positive response was received the following day for all English and Scottish cities.
Sending the same info to TfL for ULEZ brought a same day response asking for all 4 pages of the V5C (not the 2 I’d sent!). Duly sent, a positive response arrived the same day.

No CoC with my paperwork unfortunately.

And paid for the CoC via Bell and Colvill 2 weeks only to be told that Lotus are bogged down with a new computer system and no date for receiving my paperwork.

I assume that your V5C doesn’t show the emissions data either?

And just to conclude my episode, today I received an unrequested new V5C (8/23 edition) from DVLA, that has had the 0.076NOx value added, tho’ no other emissions data added!
Presumably the Gov.Uk CAZ site has linked through to the DVLA and added this data.

Does anyone know if all S1 Elises have less than 0.08 NOx on the Certificate of Conformity? Thinking of buying one but there does not seem to be any reliable way to check in advance - you need the V5C to get a CoC and you have to pay!
