F82 M4 Air Con Condenser Replacement Cost

Hi all,

Air con has been dying for a while, recently regassed with dye in to detect leak.

Local garage quoting just over £900 to replace leaking condenser behind heat exchanger. Identified by UV dye.

Does this seem reasonable? Just wondering if the M Power tax being applied here! Or is it really a bigger job that a 318i?!

A genuine Condenser from BMW is iirc £380 + VAT, the rest is labour and regas.

It’s getting done this week, just interested really to know if the job is harder on the M4 due to positioning of condenser versus other models.

Estimate is 6 hours labour. So it’s a big job on M4.

In short. Job done. It’s a massive job. 6 hours. I can see where the cost is.

£380 for condenser, £50 for regas, 6x70£/hr labour.

I don’t know if these differ to the normal 4 series but you don’t normally need to pull the bumper off, just pull them forward and lift it up, 2-3 hours is normally enough.
