Am temporarily living in Japan and contemplating buying a 5 series here, then shipping it back to Australia in about 18 months.

What I can't find the answer to is how easy it is to change the language of the main display from Japanese to English. I would presume that all cars leave the factory with all languages installed, but I can't confirm it. (I asked at a local dealer, but they wouldn't commit / investigate)

Can anyone assist?

Thanks

99.9 % sure that English (and other main languages) are pre-loaded, so changing it will be extremely easy.

You could easily test this in situ in a car in a showroom

A different question is the labels on all physical buttons, would they be in Japanese...?

These questions are what Google was made for, isn't it the first place people look?

Yes, that's what I would like.. but they're a bit funny about things like that.. and weary of gaijins f**king with their stuff! smile

I have the answer - YES!

A friendly dealer demonstrated it. Interestingly he said he would gladly show me as a German customer had just asked a similar thing and he investigated if it was possible.. turns out the Japanese shipped cars are loaded with Japanese AND English, but no other languages.
