Cinch - only share service history after purchase?!
Discussion
Odd one, has anyone bought through Cinch before? I saw a car I liked, asked for some more details on the service history and whether the cambelt had been changed only to be told "we can only provide you the information we have on system as you haven't purchased the car".
That information is 1 service, assume by them, last month. The car is a touch over 5 years old.
Personally I wouldn't buy a car if I can't see it's servicing information. It's price isn't that much different to what approved used examples go for at a main dealer where this information is readily available.
Suppose many punters don't look at this type of stuff.

I think you are right though a lot of people who use websites like cinch and cazoo maybe aren't as clued up and won't even think to look at it.
I know my wife and inlaws wouldn't look for it if I didn't get involved with them
Agree. If similarly priced I'd go main dealer and have the benefit of their manufacturer approved warranty.I think you are right though a lot of people who use websites like cinch and cazoo maybe aren't as clued up and won't even think to look at it.

You don't say what car it is and I can't speak for all modern cars but, for example, BMWs have the service history stored in the iDrive. If you can access the vehicle to view it then you can check it for yourself as long as it's stored electronically in the vehicle's computer rather than in a physical book.
As an aside, does anyone know why Cazoo describe each service record as "service document" when, in the case of a BMW at least, it should be in the iDrive?

You can buy it and invoke the money back guarantee:

Sure it's a faff, but that's how these large volume operations work - they don't cater for the PH'er who wants the nitty gritty.

Yep I'm out and complained also. They shred the information that comes with the car so unless electronically stored you get nothing. They won't share with you the electronic information so you buy blind.
Defeats their usp of being an online retailer if you have to physically get to the car to run through basic "do i want to see it or not" questions you would easily have answered by a normal dealer.
Some other mug can buy the car

They must have changed policy because I bought a car from them last year they provided a full break down of its service history including date, mileage and location before I’d purchased it. The stamped service book was with the car when it arrived.
I will say though having bought cars from both Cazoo and Cinch, the car from Cazoo was prepared to a much higher standard and Cazoo seem to be more honest with their photographs of damage than Cinch. My car from Cinch had a fair few marks on that weren’t documented in the “imperfections”.
