R293TTS. Car and classics
Discussion
A friend of mine is keen to join the fold and has asked for my thoughts on the above car that goes to auction in the next week.
Ad and photos don’t tell me much about chassis condition, suspension etc. would be interested to hear any of your thoughts?
Any decent 450’s or 500’s looking for a new home .

A marmite colour but looks tidy enough.
They never show chassis pics as it spoils the marketing, by that i mean you have a load of really tasteful shots that look good and draw you in and then a few of the chassis which most of the time look terrible so puts people off.
Worth a look though if you can inspect the chassis.

Looking at the MoT history, the speedo readings have been a bit all over the place, doing 9k miles in 1 year (unlikely), losing 7k miles the next and losing 500 miles in 2022. It's probably misreads, as mentioned, or had speedo changes but it can't be ignored! It seems to have only had a few services, and the lack of yellow slip means it's a trader. The fact it's been untaxed since 16th June is also a giveaway.
That said, it's a handsome thing in that colour although the carpets are faded, dash needs replacing and the tyres are ancient. Could be a good buy but will need to be cheap because the MoT history will always be there for everyone to see.
The last V5c was issued in March 2019 so the previous private owner had it a while.
The place it's booked in for a service (SSC) is run by Andy Nicholas who was at TVR Central for years and has worked on them for over 20 years.

It sold for £14k in the end, plus a fee. That's a very good price for an auction.

Things are maybe not all doom and gloom after all.

so 14k for a car that, on closer and picky inspection, would definately need a refurbishment of the chassis?
Is that a guess or a statement? You can't possibly know, it may be OK. I sold a 17 year old Chimaera in 2017 that was still on its original chassis and 84k miles on the clock. It was fine.
