Family Wago - + Dogs NOT mpv / decent MPG...
Discussion
I'm looking for the impossible.
I have 3 growing teenage boys and 2 large dogs. Currently we squeeze in a battered old Dacia logan but it's on its way out
We are looking to replace it with something a bit bigger / Nicer
Must have:
3 full size seats in the back
Boot large enough for a dog crate and luggage
Decent MPG
Can't be a MPV as my wife wont be seen dead in one.
Don't want to spend more than £10k. Plan to buy outright and run into the ground.
I just can't find the right thing.
Options such as:
Mercedes Vito
VW Transporter
Hyundai i800
All seem nice and big, but poor MPG
Don't want a Jap import such as estima although look nice
Anything im missing out there???

If the i800 and VW Trainspotter aren't considered by your wife as an "MPV" (even though they are despite starting life as a van), the slightly smaller van derived 5 seaters like the VW Caddy, Vauxhall Combo Life, Citroen Berlingo etc would do the job quite well.
Diesel ones of these will do best part of 50mpg, even the petrol ones won't be that bad.
Other option would be a Skoda Superb or VW Passat estate - plenty of room in the back seats and also in the boot.

When I say MPV - i mean such as VW Sharon / Ford Galaxy / Vauxhall Zafira etc - basically all the cars that are designed to do exactly what i need a cr to do.
however van derivatives are not in this class - don't know why, ours is not to reason why etc ....
Estate cars all have a small middle seat - i really want 3 proper seats in the back for growing boys
My suggestion of an old E class funeral car was met with derision.
This is challenging.
There must be something out there that fits the bill, I just can't find it...

Subaru Exiga. Will probably find a really nice fresh one for that money.
