Just had to go into the app to figure out why the hell BMW sent me a “Your BMW service is due” email a month after it was serviced.

“BMW Teleservices, the on-board system in your vehicle, has notified us that the service on your BMW 335d xDrive is due. Our online booking tool allows you to book an appointment at your convenience by clicking the link below.”

Wut?

Services due - “vehicle inspection”

In the app I found out that this was for a vehicle inspection “to comply with statutory requirements”

An MOT in other words.

1. Thanks, I know
2. It’s not going to a main dealer for an MOT
3. Could you not just have said “MOT”?

Shame you didn't MOT it at the same time as the service a month ago. If you had the timing right right it would have been one trip.

I use the dealer for MOTs as I time it with a service, but also as they are generally cheap for it.

Possibly. But it’s not on fixed interval servicing, so not really possible to sync it with the MOT cycle.

Just reset that one yourself to align with your MOT. Just reset it now if your MOT is ages away. It's just a 12 month timer.

Ah fair enough,

I service mine annually regardless, otherwise mine would do 18k miles between oil changes yikes

I tend to so this, because it sometimes gets missed by the dealer, although mine is a first gen CCC idrive, so I assume it's not much like modern versions!

It’s due end of September so it’s at the right time, it just seems odd not to say “MOT”.

International market perhaps ? Or maybe MOT is a rude word somewhere. I've heard of more absurd reasons not to do something.

Is it cynical of me to suspect that they think if they say “MOT” people will just take it somewhere else?
