Seeing the new for 24 F2 car, I think it looks spectacularly good, compared to the current look F1 cars, even the big wheels finally look like they belong on these cars.
Was a little surprised that it's still quite big at almost 5.30 m, looks a lot smaller.
Would be great to have similar size F1 cars in the future.

Interesting from the press release that they've specifically targeted making it less physical to drive in an attempt to make it more accessible to female racers.

I really wish F1 would get rid of the wheel covers!

I know it's for reducing the dirty air but it looks so good without them.

It would be a start, but 5.3 meters still far too damned big for a single seater!

It's only about a foot shorter than a current F1 car.

It made no sense to have power steering in F1 and FIA F3, but not in F2. Tatiana Calderon, who was I think the only lady to drive the current F2 in the championship, was quite outspoken about how physically difficult the F2 is to drive.

The design looks good, F1 need to be aiming for a similar length and weight.

Worth noting of course that the current F2 is 5.2 metres, the current F1 cars are 5.6. So really there isnt much in it.

Though I would welcome the return of smaller lighter cars (as the drivers would too) it wont happen, the size of the cars these days is mostly determined by safety factors.

A major goal of the '26 regs is to reduce the size of the cars, so fingers crossed. I doubt the weight can be reduced a lot though, due to the batteries.

Yeah I know that, but we aren't returning to 09 size cars anytime soon which was the last refuelling year and IIRC was the last year no one complained the cars were too big

Obviously not, and I don't think anybody is expecting that. But, getting closer to 5m length (same as a 2014 F1 car or 2023 LMH car) might be doable.

A shame they're using barn doors for the rear wings.

Too big and too dependent on DRS. Rather than making it more efficient and a bigger differential to it being on/off how about getting rid of it entirely and fix the cars so drivers have to work for an overtake?

The look of this car is amazing and I am expecting its performance to be really good as well.

Bad news for you then, the new F2 car still doesn't have power steering. They have made the steering lighter by altering the suspension geometry. Feels like it's going to somehow compromise steering performance or feel.

I did actually read their press release again today, because the subject came up on the Jamie Chadwick thread, and I thought that the words chosen looked a little suspicious in that area.

I still think it makes little sense to leave out PS (and a starter motor!), when cars before and after do have it, but hope that their solution does make it slightly less physical to drive, not beyond the natural ability of a small lady with some time in the gym.
