Dealership won't refund me - pls help

Hi all! In need of some advice 😔

I bought a car from a dealership which turned out to have a massive oil leak - confirmed by a specialist. I notified the dealership right away and with some back and forth agreed to a repair. They didn't do anything about it and I decided to reject the car. I was within my 30 days' short term right to reject and gave the car back to them. I contacted them 2 days later asking for updates and was assured they have started the refund process. It's now been a week later and I still haven't had anything, I tried calling them today but they wouldn't pick up the phone and won't answer to any messages. The purchase price was over 10k so I can't take them to small claims court 😔 they have until Saturday technically to refund me but I don't see this happening with the lack of communication and how long it's already been. Has anyone been through this? What are my best options and what would you advise? I've read taking Court action can be quite pricey and would take absolute ages 😔I've saved you some info to make this easier to read 😅

You paid the deposit by credit card, didn’t you. Start a section 75 claim with the credit card company.

Unfortunately I paid by a bank transfer and didn't use a credit card

Have you sent a recorded post letter to reject the car?

Is the dealer a main or large dealer or are you dealing with a one man band type place?

If they aren't answering the phone, go down there, take your biggest mate if you aren't the confrontational type.

I haven't, I sent them an email and they replied with a time and date to get the car to them.

It's not a main dealer unfortunately, more like a family ran business. They have about 50ish cars for sale le so I'd say medium? Not sure, it was my first time buying from a dealer. They're also AA approved

They finally answered today saying they'll chase it up and let me know but I'll be calling again if I don't hear from them until later this afternoon. Thanks everyone for the help!

What are they chasing up exactly ?

I would assume they would want to see the car themselves and see the oil leak

Still waiting unfortunately, although now there's communication so things are improving (I guess) they said the money has left their account so I should be getting it soon, hopefully! They have the car, I got it back to them on the 19th last month

Update: after 3 weeks I finally received my refund. Thank you all!
