My Tam is currently with the dealer for some fixes. The instrument pod and glove box have gone back to the factory for repair.

It's been two weeks so far, which I'm not too concerned about. What concerns me is that the dealer can't tell me when the stuff will come back from the factory. It could potentially be months.

The dealer said they can't actually get to talk to anyone at the factory for info on repair jobs. The dealer phones the factory, leaves a message, and then no-one calls them back.

The dealer says it's a big problem. The only way they know when a repair job is complete is when they send their weekly truck to the factory and the repaired item is there ready to be collected.

And what about dealers who are too far away to send regular trucks to the factory? What do they do?

Since I bought the Tam I've lost count of the number of times I've had the following conversation:

Friend: "Have you got your car back yet?"
Me: "No"
Friend: "You've got to be joking. So when will you get it?"
Me: "Dealer says next week"
Friend: "But they said that last week"
Me: "Yep"

Several of my friends love the Tam. One of them was interested in getting a Sagaris. After seeing how TVR treats it's customers however they have said there's no way they would buy a TVR.

Is the Tam in your garage waiting for the parts or at the dealer? Is it okay while waiting for the bits?

Is there any communication between the factory and the outside world?

My Tam is at the dealers. It has to stay there until the factory send the fixed intrument pod and glove box back to the dealers.

Haven't tried calling the factory directly. What chance do I have of getting information on a repair job if a main dealer can't get the information?

Well I think i'd be trying Blackpool myself.

It is 'your' car after all & can't do any harm to put a bit of pressure of them personally.

I called the factory and explained the situation to the receptionist.

The factory then called the dealer five minues later and gave them an update. Apparently the dealer needs to send another part of the ECU to the factory in addition to the pod, and the whole thing should be turned around by Wednesday next week.

What to make of that? Was the dealer being honest about not being able to contact the factory? Who the hell knows. Ah well...

Dealers are half the problem... the other half is just typical...

I've dealt with the factory direct on lots of parts issues, and never failed to get through...or get an instant answer...or get the parts next day! Even the obscure and oversised stuff (like body panels for a race Tuscan) gets delivered nicely packaged-up next day

My ECU had to go to TVR to be fixed, via a dealer, and it only took a couple of days from the dealer sending it off and getting the part back and fitted.

Was this before the takeover or after?

I've certainly taken everything apart (and it's now well on its way back together again), and I'm replacing EVERYTHING that's not absolutely 100%, and that's included a couple of panels but only the ones I wasn't up to making myself .

But on the subject of the post - panels, wheel bearings, exhausts, rose joints, nuts & bolts, paint swatches etc all from the factory next day with no problems. They even sprayed up a paint sample in a colour they didn't have stocked as a sample - that came next day too!
