Help buying used petrol estate

I have narrowed it down to a couple of choices which might seem a weird comparison - one is going with the heart and one is going with the head.
Probably easy to tell which is which.
2019 Jag XF 2.0 R Sportbrake:

This really stands out as the type of car I would like to drive as my family daily. I think they look great and I like this colour. I would need some help with this one as its a private seller and I think its way overpriced for a private sale. What way would you approach this? I put the reg in WBAC and it came up about £17250, Motorway was a bit more - so I was thinking £18,500-19k for a private sale? It says 2 owners but its actually 3. Luxury car tax for another 2 years I think and tax is due soonish in Nov. I have never bought a car before private but this looks genuine and well looked after. Am I missing something here?
The portfolios seem better specced with the Meridian audio but not sure if that is a deal breaker for me. There are a few 2019 portfolios with about 50k miles from dealers around the £19k-20k mark so I am trying to justify an offer of £18.5k but I want to make sure I am reasonable.

I really like the look of these cars and I think it might be a safer choice in terms of reliability and maintenance/servicing. There are a few of these around £20k from dealers and I quite like the soul red colour.
I'm leaning towards the Jag as the more interesting choice if a deal is to be had.
Any thoughts?

I know what you mean. I have been in contact with the seller and they are open to offers. I just want to make sure reasoning is sound (£1000 over wbac price is reasonable) and that I havent missed anything obvious about the car which would justify paying more. e.g. its a different engine or something (I don't know a whole lot about cars)You're not going to get 6k off.

It does seem a little high for the Jag when you can get a Portfolio with 10k less miles at £1,500 less. I think £21k would be a reasonable offer, the colour is nice though. The Meridian sound system is fantastic, it would be a deal breaker for me, I'm not sure if that blue one has it.

There's a 2018 XF Sportbrake Portfolio with only 25k miles on the approved used books with Jaguar (Sytner) for £21k.
You'll get a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty and I believe the Jaguar approved used warranty is very good.

OP, there's no harm in sharing what you have found with the private seller. Some folks are worried about offending the seller, but actually, if they are overpricing their car, they are offending potential buyers!
I have printed out the various valuations and taken them to a viewing before - as Del Boy would say, "what can't speak, can't lie".
If it's not too far away and you like the spec, it's certainly worth a shot. Alternatively, message the seller. They have probably received some "would you take...?" messages, so a reasoned argument with backup would be refreshing, not to agree a final price but to check you are in the same ballpark before you invest more time.

BTW, personal view, get a Jag! Mazda is nice, but our latest CX-5 was riddled with, particularly, electrical issues which, were it an owned car and not on a maintained lease, would have cost us an arm and a leg to keep getting the dealer to check it out.

We've had a 2019 Mazda6 2.5GT for 3 years now. No faults to speak of, though the soul red paint is a bit soft and the bonnet in particular could probably do with a respray. Taken it from 9k miles to 35k miles and it seems to have depreciated very little looking at the adverts you posted. Averaging 34.9MPG in mixed use with quite a lot of short journeys over that time. It's a nice enough drive, the 19' wheels are probably a bit large tbh and it does seem to go through its tyres quicker than you would like - damage rather than wear, due to the state of the roads - if you get one then get the tyre and wheel insurance if the dealer offers it. It's got everything you could think of spec wise and the cabin is a nice place to be. My wife likes it but doesn't love it (unlike her previous volvo) so I think we'll move it on in the next couple of years.

As others have said the Portfolio is the better option, there's an alternative to the Mazda6 & it's the 2.0T Elite Nav:Probably easy to tell which is which.
