Let’s face it the economic outlook is bleak. Biggest interest rate rises for forty years. And property prices in free fall.

So, when I can get a cheap f type v8? Currently dealers are still in cloud cuckoo land asking ten grand over the wbac. laugh I’m thinking Jan next year the £30k 2020 p450 v8 will be happening once the crazy land prices finally crack.

And I’m willing to wait…

WBAC pay the minimum with the calculation they'll make a profit at a trade only auction. The trade want to make a profit on the car they've purchased from WBAC at auction. As a result any expectation of buying a desirable car at anywhere near the WBAC is very unrealistic.

It's good that you're willing to wait. Prices will eventually fall into your budget. Just a question of how long that will be.

Dealers will never price cars at the same value WBAC will pay for them so.if that's your barometer for the time to buy you will never buy one, if dealers start reducing prices WBAC will go lower still.

Early next year may be a good time to look but then there's a whole thread on here where people have been waiting for used car prices to drop and it hasn't happened yet.

Issue is when they do get to around £30k, you won’t be the only one after one. I’ll have one too, which probably means we’re a little way off that time. It’s another car which won’t be repeated, so I would very surprised if there are any bargains on these in the near future.

Yes but after some serious culling the middle management sector will be dead and nobody sane will be spunking 30 grand on a v8. If that means serious bargains then good luck to you as well.

I hope you’re right…..it seems the only times these types of cars seem cheap are looking back with hindsight, as when they hit rock bottom, no one wants them for various reasons, you and me probably included.

If you are thinking of a bargain time, just after and around Christmas is usually a decent time. I’ve had a great buy or two a few days after Christmas when things are very quiet for most dealers. This year may be gloomier than most.

I got a great deal on my current 2 seater in 2019 - the seller admitted it had to be gone before Christmas!

I'm in exactly the same position as OP - V8 imminent, cash ready to spend and just waiting for the right car.

When will prices crash...? From experience, inevitably about a week after I buy mine!!

You’ll be waiting at least 6-8 years to buy a 2020 p450 for £30k based on current depreciation profiles.

Why wait... just get yourself a slightly older car with low miles a good spec and with a higher output than the P450! The older cars sound better too.

I've had this one 3 weeks and I am over the moon with it! It was a bit higher than £30k, but you might not even be here tomorrow! Get in one if you have the means the smiles per mile in these V8's are epic!

The point is that current depreciation profiles are nonsense and are not sustainable. There is a decent chance cars like this in particular will nose dive once the crunch comes next year.

Maybe, maybe not. I certainty won’t be sticking £30k cash in a car like this, as it’s quite a lot of money for me and I suspect prices will hit hard. Ive seen v6 £35k in 2021 to low £20s now.

I paid £36k for a main dealer supplied, 2 year warranty, 2015 v8 with 12k miles in 2019. They are still circa that but more miles, not at a main dealer - market has been odd.

Low 20’s (really 23-24k), buys a 60k+ mile low ish spec, 10 y/o, v6. Op wanted a 2020 final version p450…. They won’t be 30k for 6-8 years.

Is a V6 really that much worse though?
I'd love to consider one of these in the future but wouldn't want to spend more that £25k.
They still look and sound incredible.
I do get that V8 owners will always say it is.

I tested a V6 before getting the V8 - the sound i would say is on par in terms of theatre. What marred the V6 a bit for me was the review Jay Emm (Youtube) did on one of the F Types he tested. The V6 is essentially the same engine as the V8 but with 2 cyl blanked off, so there is little / no weight advantage or significant MPG improvement over the V8. Saying this though it could also explain the great sound the V6 makes...

Great buy that - would still be a circa £40k car at a main dealer today I would have thought, 4 years later!

Even at todays prices, the V8 is outstanding value compared to cars with similar performance. Anyone hoping these are going to drop sharply are going to be disappointed, I suspect.

And yes, the V8 is absolutely worth it over the V6, having experienced an SVR.

Having driven a V6 recently they felt quite lacking in performance, although it was a V6 (340bhp) not an S (380bhp)
