Google Domains sold to Square Space

As a user of Google domains for our domains - just received an e-mail this morning that Google Domains (and all the associated domain registrations) are being sold to square space.

Doesn't feel great to me, as squarespace appear significantly more expensive than google for many domains (eg .com, .co.uk etc)

Anyone else effected/have thoughts?

Yeah, I got the same yesterday.

I only really use mine for email forwarding - but I have the same suspicion as you, that prices are going to jump. If that happens, I'll probably change all my email addresses and bin domains at renewal.

It doesn't feel great to me either. As much as I like and use many Google products, I've grown tired of the continual changes and the upheaval that arises from it. Recently migrated a domain over to Google purely for the email forwarding function so I hope that option stays, but somehow I doubt it.

I use iCloud and Cloudflare for other domains so will probably just transfer over to one of them.

Move over to Cloudflare - I think it's about the cheapest out there and they are soild company

If I understand the Cloudflare site, they'd host my domain for free and provide email forwarding for free. I must have misunderstood that...

A soiled company doesn't sit well with me....

Seems Squarespace immediately put prices up.

My domains just renewed. With Google, they cost me £10 each. The Squarespace renewal also said £10 - but neglected to mention that's + vat. So an immediate 20% increase.

My domains will move this year.

I used Mythic Beasts to host email (for the first time ever) a week or so back after a recommendation on another thread.

Since I was using them for email I've moved my two .co.uk domains to them.
The .com domains seem more expensive with them (it would have cost me to transfer them) - but since I don't use them I will probably let them expire one year from now.
