Hi

As the title says…..looking at either a 420 or 430 2015 with approx 100000 miles on it..in auto. Which one would you say was the more reliable?

Thanks

As reliable as each other

You need to do your due diligence re the SH and ensure there's plenty of paperwork/receipts that show this and not just go off the iDrive etc

if the choice is between a 420d vs 430d, then defo the 430d as the 6 cylinder is far better, we've had 2 of those engines and if well maintained they are quite robust.
I was doing 20k-30k/yr for 3yrs in my 530d without any issues, the x3 does 8k/yr over the last 6yrs. It gets the occasional long run with lots of school runs etc, but again serviced once a year at a minimum with no issues.

420i vs 430i, I have no experience of.

I have a 330d with 152 k on. Oil changed every 10 k . Still tight as a drum, including gearbox.

Thanks for the replies guys really helpful

Im really struggling to afford a BMW430d with less than 90000 miles on it...

Has anyone gone down the 420D stage 1 road?, if so are you happy with the results.

thanks

The Luxury versions are good cars IMO; as you said, they're well spec'd

I'd absolutely go for one of those over a low spec M Sport any day
