Does anyone know how to listen to English Commentary whilst in Italy at the track this year? Thanks

F1 live timing app, which takes the BBC R5L commentary. Stock up on your roaming data, and be prepared for about a 30-second delay compared to what you’re watching in front of you.

Thanks , I always thought the BBC did not allow you to listen abroad

even if you could, you'll have almost zero chance of getting a reliable enough roaming signal to be able to listen to an audio feed. You might stand a better chance with a local SIM, but i expect it's a capacity issue more than anything.

Yes, the R5L site itself won’t work abroad, but the BBC syndicates the feed to F1 themselves, who include it in the live timing app worldwide.

As others have said, you’re relying somewhat on the local mobile infrastructure being able to handle tens of thousands of people all on the live timing app at the same time, but it’s worked surprisingly well at the last few venues I’ve attended - sadly Italy wasn’t one of them.

Oh, and make sure you have a good pair of noise-cancelling headphones - the cars are quieter than they used to be, but you’re not hearing anything with a standard pair of earbuds.

Interesting for me as I'll be there too.
Anyone else from PH attending?

I’m road tripping it in the Mondial, and then doing the whole ‘photo in front of the factory, dinner at the restaurant’ cliche after because I’m that sad now. Never been to a Grand Prix, never been to Italy.

So if anyone has any advice or tips I’m all ears.

I'll be there - first overseas race I have attended (was meant to go to Barcelona in 2020 but was moved/transferred to Monza multiple times cos covid).

I'm in the grandstand Alta Velocita 6A so hopefully get a reasonable view of the pit exit, main straight and the first corners. Was meant to be 6B but the Travel company were unable to obtain tickets without a massive price uplift (literally 100s each extra), but 6A should still be good.

Nice... we've gone GA only as following the appalling reports from last year's race I figure if we sack it off after the Friday and watch it in the pub then I've not lost £000's
