The new Vantage?
Discussion
OK here we are. A brand new space for members to postulate about the imminent new car.
From what I’ve been able to gather, so far, it looks like at least some version will retain the AMG V8, but it may also be offered with a lower spec 6 as an all new entry level car.
Taking cues from DB12, there will be laser focus on the perceived failings of the previous effort. This means a new front end and a new dash/interior.
We also expect the V8 version of the new car to be significantly more powerful and expensive.
There are whispers of a new name ? over to the wise heads of the forum….

I know a few insiders, but none who would stoop to revealing future product secrets.
Therefore I know nothing.
If you want me to guess, then it might follow the DB11 to DB12 changes. Money is always tight, so AML might want to avoid incurring excessive development and regulatory costs.
Change the front, DB12 interior, more power, oh and there always has to be improved suspension for every new model. A different rubber bush, counts as improved suspension.
As for the M-B inline six 3 litre engine, I would doubt it. The manufacturing cost of that engine, might not be very different from the
M-B V8 4 litre. Various power specs. with both engines, but there might be overlaps, so what is the point. A smaller capacity engine does not necessarily mean a cheaper car. If they want hybrid, then perhaps yes, but I think they have said the Valhalla will be the first hybrid.

Seriously though, I think Jon’s assessment is pretty much spot on, although as I have said before I think they will attempt to move this car away from “entry level” in terms of pricing. I don’t know when we will get the official reveal but I would have thought there is a strong likelihood that some people have had private viewings by now. That’s usually how AML operate when new models are launched. DB12 has set the bar high imho, so let’s just hope that AML get this one right too. I don’t think I can face another late 2017 all over again! BRM.
Having heard the new new Vantage testing at the Nurburgring (on video), it definitely sounds like a V8. The sound has been muted slightly and there are less artificial pops etc on overrun. Which I actually view as positive; a more mature sound for sure.
Whether or not they decide to introduce a V6 remains to be seen, but certainly keep a look out for more footage. Personally, I'm not in a market for a V6 as I've had my fill.
It appears to corner well and looks composed. Reminds me of the DB12 vs DB11 test mules on the same track - although the improvement in composure with the DB12 over the DB11 was more visually noticeable.
Having spoken to a dealer, the DB12 will give a good insight into the path the interior design will follow of the Vantage.
I think AM are on to something terrific.

I think Mercedes discontinued their V6 engine range in 2017.
The replacement was an in-line 6 cylinder engine (M256) 2,999cc.
The now popular 500cc per cylinder.
Aston Martin use this engine in the (China only) DBX Straight--Six mild hybrid.
More favourable sales tax in China. When introduced in 2021 the list price for the DBX Straight-Six was 1.898 million Chinese yuan (approximately $297,000), versus the 2.298 million Chinese yuan starting price of the regular DBX.

This forum has definitely changed a lot in the relatively short time that I have been posting. Many of the regulars who were on here when I first signed up in early 2014 have since disappeared. Imho that may be partly a result of the two most divisive issues on here over recent years, the IPO and “new Vantage” released in late 2017. I really do hope AML nail it this time. If it turns out to be a sportier, shorter version of DB12 with a more aggressive set up, and similar elements at the front and inside, then I think they will be on to a winner. Just one request from me though. Launch it in a decent colour. No more Lime Essence please. Recent form would suggest they won’t make that mistake again. Fingers crossed. BRM.

What will everyone talk about here, if the changes make the car a stunner, the launch colour is really attractive, but then the LS 40% margin is added, so the price is £250,000 before options.
Entry level model for the ultra-luxury brand.
No worries, don't forget the billions of new Formula One viewers, who now want to buy an Aston Martin.
EXPLANATION.
There is a secret.
1 - Estimate the number of TV viewers, livestream viewers and then add all the ticketed spectators.
2 - Each GP is a 3 day event, so multiply by three.
3 - During 2023 there will be 23 races, so now multiply by 23.
They quote the number of F1 fans in billions, but you can see that many individuals have been counted multiple times.

A new car to be unveiled at Monterrey according to Autocar, they think it’s going to be the roofless version of the DB12, but it could be the not-Vantage..?
Apart from the chassis, engine, gearbox, brakes, most of the body and the retracting soft top, we hear it’s 80% new by a count of the changed component/part numbers.
I hear there are a great deal of parts in a dashboard…

A significant number of spy shots of the 2024 Aston Martin Vantage have been shot on the Nürburgring and published at youtube during the last two months.
I am quite convinced that the cars with the license plates KY23 MVH, KY23 MUA and KY23 MSV are the 2024 Aston Martin Vantage - the rear almost unchanged vs. the current Vantage and the front largely copied from the DB12. Tyres: Michelin Pilot Sport 5S
You may check at CarSpyMedia - @carspymedia8960 - who published extensive material in premium quality.

Im glad they kept the back, it was the one bit i thought looked good on the ‘model that was formerly known as new vantage’
I would agree oilit. I have never been a huge fan of the car looks wise but that has been flogged to death on here so I don’t want to open old wounds. The rear, although a little fussy, always looked pretty good and purposeful imho. Although I think the quad pipes should have been standard from launch, or perhaps much larger twin ones if not. Anyway, let’s just hope they don’t marry the old front to a new rear any time soon. BRM.

As Minglar says it has always needed bigger quads or 2 larger but doubt this in itself has impacted sales.
For my tuppence I believe the new ( new new ) vantage will also retain its name and engine - but perhaps a return to the “ S “ option as well. Neither will be marketed a entry level model unless simply perceived as such.
It’s pricing will finish roughly at what the 12 starts at.
Then the DBS will be a further cost and step up to its new flagship - I assume with the same name.
If AM does the Lotus as possibly suggested and brings out a true entry level model with a new name then they will need to be 200% confident and happy that it doesn’t create more problems than it supposedly might solve.
You only have to look at the Emira which wasn’t just a timing issue they got and seemingly continue to get wrong.
Even so I would have thought either a 4 or 6 pot just wouldn’t equate to the luxury moniker but equally would a V8 be able to be fitted in terms of the cost and possible size implications ?
Perhaps entry level might mean circa £100k but whether that 40% margin is still possible I have no idea but suspect not ?
I don’t want to derail the thread but the “cheap entry level” AMG engined Emira review embargo was lifted yesterday and from what I’ve read, generally the reports have not been too complimentary. It’s almost as if MB/AMG have strangled the performance from their engine and also inhibited the gearbox too. This car was originally marketed as the “affordable” entry level version and for various reasons the pricing has ended up about £5,000 below the six cylinder version. I came very close to placing an order for one of these but in the end decided not to go ahead. The feedback on the designated Lotus forums has by and large been very critical of Lotus, from a customer service point of view, and because of the big change in price. It was originally marketed at circa £60,000. Of course some of the price change has been beyond their control, but it’s certainly left a bitter taste with many. AML cannot possibly go down this route. It completely goes against everything that the “vision” has represented since LS got involved. So I’m still firmly in the mini DB12 camp, and priced accordingly. It will be interesting to see what they come up with. BRM.
Unfortunately with Lotus it was also the fact that the way in which in effect a simple “replacement “for the Evora was marketed in conjunction with the ceased production of the Exige and Elise and the fact that Lotus in later years had become expensive for the “ feel “ of their build quality.
If AM were to build it with a similar size , impracticalness , “ the right “ engine ( but with a similar “ wow to the look “ factor then it will be the price that will be wrong.

There is no market left for an entry level sports car equipped with an ICE. Those times have passed away...
There may be people out there who offer £ 120,000 for the same car which a manufacturer would price at £ 150,000 - so we can conclude this is no viable path!
The only (other) serious cars in the 300 - 400 HP range like the Alpine A110 and the Cayman will be terminated very soon and replaced by BEV.
I would guess that Porsche is taking final orders on the Cayman, and other options are simply second hand 911s or Vantage.
As mentioned by several contributors a Vantage with a smaller inline-6 would not have much lower production cost - but again significant development cost.
The only realistic option is a base 2024 V8 Vantage with 550 HP and a 2024 V8 Vantage S with 650 HP. Same engine and gear box, but different turbo, mapping and base spec of the two versions?

I also can’t see a new low end model - why waste valuable £££ on r&d or manufacturing space and escaping economies of (some sort of) scale.
I would rather they focused on the 3.5t towing capacity on a now never talked about DBX
The truth is they would do better to just build new specials every year!
We must be long overdue for a v12 vantage zagato successor - or can you not have zagato and amg in the same vehicle ?
