Monza F1 GPGT Package - worth it?
Discussion
No experience of GPGT, but I went to Monza a couple of times with the now defunct Motor Racing International. Looks like GPGT accommodate you in Milan, we stayed in Como both times. MRI arranged coach transfers to the race each day, Gary gave some very well informed info about the race and had some very amusing banter.
Each time went with my wife and another couple. Como was beautiful and made it a really nice weekend holiday each time. First time we had tickets by the first chicane, second time on the start/finish straight. The first experience was better - it's in its own paddock with food/drink facilities which were much better than we experienced in the main paddock. Viewing was better at the chicane, bit more to see. They used a ridiculous queuing system where you queue up to buy food tokens, then queue up again to get the food. Food was overpriced and pretty awful - bought a panini which was frozen then just heated in a sandwich toaster. Still frozen in the middle - went straight in the bin. Also lots of queuing for toilets.
Would I go again? The second visit put me off F1 to be honest and we haven't been since. I've been to Spa a couple of times since with the same friend, but to watch the 24 hour race, which we've both enjoyed and are planning to go again next year. Cheaper, less busy, better access to everything.
