BMW 3 Series Oil pressure

Hi everyone.
In need of some advice please.
I've got a 2011 E90 318i Petrol, had it for around 3 years. Around 12 months ago the oil pressure light started to come on and a small amount of white smoke would come out the exhaust when idle.
When you turn the ignition on and off the oil light goes off and doesn't return for the rest of the journey. And won't be on next time the car starts up.
I got a full service of the car in January and replaced the oil sensor and up until this week there has been no oil pressure light or smoke. It has only done 1500 miles since then as this isn't my primary car.
On Monday 15 miles onto my journey the light come on, it still goes off when ignition is turned on and off and I continued the rest of my journey for a further 20 miles with no issues.
Any idea what it could be? Or how expensive to fix?
