Any idea where I can get a couple?

Is there a specialist who can make them up?

Wondering whether any of these could be modified to work

Yes the engine also has the Joolz long return spring, as well as the two spindle springs

However without the spindle springs there is an increased chance that the throttle doesn't close properly, elevating the idle speed, and reducing engine braking

Therefore I am very keen to replace the spring

Apologies, you're probably replying to my contribution, which I deleted. For context, it was drivel about the longer return springs behind the plenum (Chim / Griffs) that owner often reduce to one, because I hadn't realised this was a Cerbera until after I'd posted it. rolleyes

I've had a Cerbera too but couldn't remember what throttle return springs it had. smile

I'd strongly recommend replacing the inner throttle cable, with a thinner stainless job. Very easy and cheap, the throttle will definitely close easier once done, and I mean night and day difference, also makes the throttle much smoother to use.

Some details in the howto sticky section.

This.

There are some replacements for sale which use a thick inner cable which are awful in operation .. and don't even fit the throttle quadrant properly.

I've decided to try to make my own using 1.3mm piano wire at £4 per metre

Exciting stuff, be sure to check your throttle cable too, it's overlooked as a mod, makes a huge difference, is easy and cheap to do.

Throttle sensitivity is so improved, almost like a free remap hehe

I replaced it Easter last year after shorting it out when removing a failed starter motor while I was in Germany - it acted just like a fuse

Took a couple of attempts, but worked well in the end

Original on the left with the break in the middle on the right

Thanks, I'm tempted to make a bunch and add them to my parts list, which is currently just one item

I'd still suggest checking for friction in the cable, I know you replaced it recently, but as Jules says, some of the cables are poor from new.

The point of my modification, is that it removes any friction whatsoever, making the throttle move free and easy.
